I don't know if it's useful...harmful...productive...destructive...pointless...meaningful...or any other adjective-opposites-pair...but...I put the AGS manual into the wiki, here (http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Contents_%28manual%29). The formatting could still use a bit of work, but it's all there. So.
Yes I knew it already (I had set my browser to monitor feeds from the WIKI), while I have no opposition to it, there're some problems worth noticing:
1. Whenever the official manual is updated, you need to update the WIKI version, which can be quite a harsh job, and it would be nightmare trying to figure out which tiny bits of information is updated in the official one (unless you can figure out an automatic way of doing so).
2. There's an official online version (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/) of the manual already, which I think is always on par with the offline version as CJ generated these pages from the same (official) source (not to mention the fact that the WIKI and the official site are actually using the same webspace now, so repeated materials would be a bit pointless).
In my opinion, a better move is just to link directly to the manual in the official site from the WIKI.
I have to say I agree. Multiple (outdated) versions of the manual could lead to confusion.
At least monkey's version actually includes the tutorial. The 'official' version (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/Starting%20off.htm) is all 404's*. Beyond that, the duplicaton is a bit pointless.
If updates could be easily kept on top of, I think the searchablity of the Wiki version could make it more useful than the current format.

::) Heheh...Ehh....I don't really know why I decided to do this but it seemed like it could be useful...as long as anyone could be bothered to keep it updated. Also I was bored. Hooray boredom.
