Yeah, that's right...
... A BIG SECRET.
...
And you thought no one would ever check the bottom of the changes.txt file included with all copies of the AGS Editor:
REVISION 10.07.97
NOTE: You will need to re-compile any games you made with any versions
before revision 10.07.97.A.
- added StartPos option to INI file, to define where the man starts on
the first screen. Also fixed the jump which happened when he first moved
from the beginning.
- removed the 'please register' nag screen, since I've decided that the
Adventure Creator is now swap-ware (see LICENSE.TXT for info).
VERSION 1.00, FEBRUARY 1997
Original release.
What is the meaning of this?! I thought we were friends... why did you try to sell AC in the beginning?! :'(
:P
Were you and Chris friends 1997?
This is nothing secret, I had read thru it already since I was from teh ac era.
As far as I remember, CJ mentioned in one of the articles in his old page, that AC was originally intended to be a hobby project, and it's just common practice to add such kind of nag screen at that time (he had made some other sharewares), but he decided to upload it as freeware so he removed the nag.
Read the article (http://web.archive.org/web/20000407221758/http://members.xoom.com/dosuser/achist.htm) here, this is an archived version, I'm not sure if it's still accessible in the current ags or the dosuser page (http://www.sylpher.com/dosuser/) (lesser known site hosted in S.com now).

Yes. Bestest friends.
Quote from: AGS HistoryTime will tell whether this was worth the effort...
Didn't it, Chris? Didn't it?! :)
Also:
Q: Are you going to do a Windows port?
A: I am working on a Windows port of the main engine, to ensure that AGS games will be playable under Windows 2000. However,
the development environment (ie. RoomEdit) will always remain DOS-based, because I like DOS.
Well, that Pumaman is an evil evil villian...
/me burns Chris Jones with his Gilbot nostril beams!
he deserves to have a good talking to and a slap on the wrists...yes definatley the wrists......yes.
Or perhaps in the back of the head. Yes, the back of the head. Scotch can do it.
He certainly can, I still have the scar to prove it.
You never suspected that Scotch, serenity incarnated, our own lovely Harry Potter boy, could do something that violent.
Oh, but Grundislav and I found out CJ's horrible secret at Mittens.
...actually, it's better not to talk about it.

The likeness is stunning.
That's the most reflective human I've seen in my days!
It's not reflection, it's the DEVIL.
