I decided to document my work on my MAGS (march) game this month. Make yourself known in the stream chat for audience interaction!! :)
Please check out twitch.tv/nihilstarcraft (http://twitch.tv/nihilstarcraft) if you want to take a look at my progress or just watch a fellow game maker work! Chances are I'll be on and streaming, if not, you can check the videos I already streamed!
Should be plenty of fun!
I'm kinda interested to find out if this is something people are interested in seeing/watching. I fully expect to have 0 viewers most of the times, but who cares.
I'm tuning in right now :)
*Wave
Have been listening and pushing pixels :) You look like a friend of mine!
You also have a super cool computer chair.
Watching over my lunch hour!
EDIT: Oh, fine, just go out for dinner during my lunch hour! I didn't want to watch anyways!
Thanks all, back now!

Watching over my lunch hour!
Watching right now. Enjoy following your thought process...
Maybe you could include 'daylight envy' as some kind of theme in your game. Coz that's what I got right now! It's BLEEDING dusk
right now and Vince is having lunch . (He basically just stole OUR sun!)
Thinking about it, 'daylight envy' might become all the latest rage!
*wave hair in an affected gesture*Ahh, too late, a cop game!:)
It's very interesting to watch you and hearing your thoughts while creating!
Thank you for sharing this (just don't like the very present/loud music ;) )
c u later

Edit:
You asked for a game that takes place on a train - I remember Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None

No, I think this one takes place on an island. Murder on the Orient Express takes place on a train, as well as The Last Express.
I tried to watch the stream, but my connection seems to be to slow, it didn't run smoothly.
Watched for a bit, very interesting, and also nice to see some Paint .Net lovin'..
The game with the train is The Rail (http://www.technocratgames.com/Games/GameRail.html) by Technocrat, a very nice game.

Pressing Enter key after drawing every line seems to actually frustrate mr. dkh, so I don't thing there's actual love there.

Yepp - I mixed those (roll)
Thank you for clearing and helping, cat
Edit:
It was veeery interesting and I will watch more for sure. (nod)
btw.
The package/thing we are looking for could be a message (telling a meeting point or something else and it can include another puzzle to be deciphered)
Thank you all for watching! Those first six hours were a lot of fun and I think in the end we came up with a pretty interesting and cool concept so far!
I do share the Paint.NET loving, as I said on stream, it's an outstanding freeware paint tool, the best I've ever seen. And yes, still the return thing after every line is annoying, not sure if there's something that can be done about that.
Thanks for the idea, Tabata, that's a good idea. So far, we haven't thought about what the message/package/whatever actually is, but I like the idea of it being a message instead of something really obvious, like money, drugs or what have you.
So, the idea is I will turn on the stream whenever I work on the game this month. Definitely tomorrow, and then, while maybe not every day, certainly almost every day, it's MAGS after all. I\ll make a post in this thread to let you girls and guys know that I'm on, so you can catch it if you want! If you want to make your voice heard and interact on stream, go ahead and use this thread or the stream chat (which requires free registration on twitch.tv however). See you tomorrow!
I'm about to go live with the second day. Looking to expand on the ideas of the first day, make sure to tune in! I'll probably be streaming for about 10 hours, from 2:00 PM to midnight CET!
Oh goody, I've just been watching some of your first video, but I'll switch to the live feed :-)
I'll be coming again later maybe.
Cool experience again! (nod)
Thank you for lowering the music. It's been very loud and (over the hours) annoying for me. Also I had the same probs about it bothering the pics/text and speach of the stream (like brutal told about).
I like the boxes (and the other stuff, too), but how about the sticker coloured in grey or a lighter brown (instead of the colour of the wall) to become a bit more realistic?
Well deserved break for you now - Guten Appetit!
You need to scroll down in the chat!
(http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/12962/good_job.gif) There's already something going on
C U
Thanks for watching! It was a lot of work (over 8 hours of streaming with about 40 minutes of break total!) but we got the first room, the player character and a first draft for a walk animation done! Oh, and the puzzles/plot for the entire game. It's going better than expected!
I will very likely be back tomorrow as I said at the end of the stream!
Stream is back on, 'show' will start in 8 minutes at 3:00 PM CET. Come watch a slightly hung-over AGS guy work more on his MAGS game!
Stream is about to go live, the action starts in 10 minutes - at 5:00 PM CET!
I reduced the quality/bitrate of the stream, it looks a tiny bit worse but will require much less bandwidth, so if you've previously had lag problems, it should be much better now!
 You already started !?
Seems to me that I need to get some free days from work to follow this live ;)
btw.
Your changes of the settings for the stream work fine for me.
Now I wanna see your fingers dance on the keypad . . . hop, hop, hop . . . (http://s14.directupload.net/images/user/120823/vrsrpnwq.gif) (http://de-mote.deviantart.com/)
Haha, the timing of this stream was really off for me. Went away, you went live. Came home, you went offline :p
Thanks for the support! Going live right now for a short two-hour stream session!
This is a really cool idea! I hope I'll be able to check in while you're on. Good luck!
Hey DKH, tuned in pretty much every day at some point or another and just wanted to give you some thumbs up! (...both of 'em!)
Can't emphasise strongly enough how valuable these streams are to us novice scripters.
They are very intersting to watch and at the same time, both inspirational and highly motivating.
Inspirational, because your whole approach to problem solving reminds me, once again, that we've a fairly open scripting language at our hands.
There never is just ONE way of going about stuff, when it comes to scripting and overcoming obstacles.
People starting out learning the AGS scripting language tend to get wound up in minor details and forget that! (...me!).
Motivating, since it is reassuring that even an advanced scripter, such as yourself, has to go throught that same 'feedback loop' of scripting, try-outs, searching
AGS help, database and the forums in order to succeed. And, especially, that patience is a key factor in all of this.
So, thanks again for doing this!
I, on the other hand, feel scared over the fact that dkh had to figure out so much stuff (in scripting) while still on the first room. I understand there's an amount of customisation involved because of specific interface design, but still...
Just want to say that this a great idea; especially for those new to AGS.
Thank you, everybody. Stream is going online in a couple of minutes!
Stream starting right now! Will only be able to stream for a bit today, unfortunately. Until 5:00-5:30 PM CET methinks!
Very cool to witness the whole process! Awesomez :D
Some great work you're doing here, DKH.
It's a unique experience to witness the process of creating a game from start to end.
And, as Trampoline said, a fellow AGSer can learn, get inspired, or just be entertained.
Honestly, you had a brilliant idea with this.
IMHO, links to your streamed videos should be permanently glued somewhere on the forum, and the videos themselves should be preserved for all the present and future AGSers to watch & learn & get inspired.
Cheers, and keep them coming!

I agree. Also, DHK. This would be a big job and one for a later date, but it would be awesome if the videos came with some short notes with time references telling the viewer what is being achieved at various points. This way, people could dip into the videos to see how you solved certain problems.
Thank you for the support! Stream is live again! I obviously can't worry about setting up an archive right now, but I will sort out something after we're through and done, if there is interest. Having said that, tho, if somebody wanted to set up a similar show and actually design it in such a way that newbies can learn the most, that would probably be more helpful than this no-walkable-areas, no-cursor-modes hacky way we're working with haha!
Going online right now!

Good luck today. Can't wait to play the final product.

Ha, ha, ha - what a great experience!
At the end it was more exciting as a thriller

Awesome to have seen all this develop, and amazing how you pulled off working on this continuously, keeping on trucking no matter what!
Sixthed. I've watched this stream more than all other streams/television shows put together this month. I won't know what to do with myself from tomorrow.
seventhed. This was really cool to follow and it's a shame I couldn't tune in on the last day. Though I'll have some vods to check out now ^^
Thank you again to everybody for tuning in, interacting and just being there! This was a great experience and experiment and I couldn't be happier to have done it.
