Silent Hill mobile: an adventure game for your mobile phone (cellphone)

Anyone who's asked me about the influences for The Marionette would know I'm a huge Silent Hill fan. So recently I found out about a Silent Hill game for mobile phones (cellphones for Americans) - and to my surprise and delight it was a first person adventure game!

Here's a screenshot:

It uses a verbcoin, and the cursor changes when it hovers over areas of interest. My only complaint so far is that it takes forever to move my cursor into position with the phone's arrow keys. But hey, that's a minor thing compared to my favourite survival horror game turning into a full-fledged adventure game! (And one that's so similar to my own game, too!)

I haven't gone far enough to comment on the puzzles, I've only explored one room and then lost my nerve (it was nighttime). But I'll report once I've ventured farther.

It's only available commercially, unless you're really good at Googling... but let's not talk about that. Anyway, just wanted to share the excitement with any other SH fans out there ;D

That is awesome, too bad i don't have a cell phone.  I love Silent Hill, it is one of my favorite game series of all times.

Really looking forward to Silent Hill 5 also. Can't Wait.

Oh wow. The only mobile Silent Hill game I've ever come across was the Japan-only "Silent Hill: Play Novel" for the GBA. Never even heard of this one. Good find. :)

[Googles a bit...]

Is it Silent Hill: Orphan?

Hooray! It hits the UK and Ireland in November!

Yup, it is indeed Silent Hill: Orphan, although I've only ever seen it as Silent Hill mobile. Weird. :)

Apparently, you get to play as three different characters. Me, I can't wait to indulge in adventure gaming anywhere at any time. Long waits for the boyfriend won't seem so torturous now!

edit: Domino, you can always download an emulator if you want to try the game out without a cellphone.

Auriond!!! I love you!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I've just tried the game and it's awesome so far, I need to go to sleep though.

I'll definitely play some more tomorrow, thanks!!!

I skimmed through the silenthillorigins.com site, and found a few references to Silent Hill V and a lot of info about Silent Hill Origins, but not Silent Hill: Orphan. Any direct link?

(for those not familiar, SH: Origins is a game for the PSP, but SH: Orphan is for mobile/cellphones. The cellphone one is the point-and-click style adventure game.)

Anyway, I've proceeded a little farther in SH: Orphan, and puzzles are simple so far, if a little senseless. The use of little unsettling details to creep out the player is fantastic in the usual brilliant Silent Hill style. The slow cursor movement is really beginning to irritate me though, and I have to wonder how the battles are going to work (I have a gun, so I'm assuming I'll need to use it later).

The entry on Konami Europe's site, that I linked to earlier, refers to the game as simply Silent Hill Mobile, but it's Silent Hill: Orphan in all but name.

Maybe "Orphan" was only the title in Japan, seeing as this is the second mobile phone SH game to be released there.

There is a wiki entry for Silent Hill: Orphan, but it doesn't contain much info.

Oh, then it must have been Fungo's site, it's down now (sadly. It was my favorite) and if you try to enter the link, it'll just re-direct you to a site about dustfungo vaccums.

Unfortunately, I've not got a telephone capable of running this. Some of us just have to wait for Origins for my portable-horror.
