Title: I need an artist to help me
Post by: Red_Armadillo on Fri 22/08/2003 00:22:16
Hi,

I've got a room of my game done and have one character (I think is satisfactory) but it just isn't like monkey island. I need an artist to help I can do alot but I'm just not good with paint. (I'm with a friend setting up a classroom, but when I get home I'll upload an image to show you) Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I almost forgot... the game is in the time of Monkey Island. I hope to have creative puzzles and I can also help draw.

Hey ill give you a hand if ya want, but I need to know a bit more about what exactly it is that you're tryin to do, like what you need drawing! ???

I havent worked on any (completed) games, but Ive done a few characters and backgrounds in a quirky day of the tentacle kind of style.

Contact me here with some info on what youve done if your still interested   8)

Oh yeah, the main thing I need to know is the sort of style graphics your thinking of - is this gonna be low res monkey island or higher stuff like samnmax?

Hi,

I'm trying to do a Monkey Island 1 type game (lower resolution), I'm trying to maintain a good sense of humor but also have a challenging game. I want it to have alot of characters but mostly stationary. I have a "kitchen" done and I have the main character done who I've nicknamed "gaylord jackson" because his face looks like michael jackson (his back view has a ponytail) I'm not asking for help with all the graphics but some. I've attached a picture of the main character and the kitchen.
Thanks Alot,
James

P.S. I tried emailing you but it came back as a faulty email address. I'll try emailing you screenshots.

Ok thanks, dunno why the address doesnt work though  :-\
You could try sending it here

alberttheangrydrunkendwarf@hotmail.com

but theres a chance that I wont get it for a day or two.

I read some of your other posts - it sounds like you have some good ideas planned there :)

One thing though - I usually do most of my artwork using the tools in Macromedia Flash and then I exportt them to the necessary file type afterwards - makes animation a bit easier. However, this means that any low-res stuff might look a bit funny because of the detail flash uses.

The thing I really need to know is what palette you will be using if 256 colour, or if the game is 24-bit.

Hope the mail gets through this time lol

Alex

I need something to do. Maybe you could send some backgrounds and I could change them or something like that.

EDIT: I mean, if you want two artists or something.

Yeah, I know but then it wouldn't get the funny looking coffee cup in front of it. At least let us get to the hot coffee cup, let us have our dignity!!!! :D
