I've been posting all around about new 3D games and stuff... and screenshots.. but actually when I began thinking I am still busy doing some finishing touch with Sam&Moos and am busy with Undeniable.. so I just wanted too much at the same time, though I can't handle it all at once. I've got also school wich is more important than games, and I feel so wrong doing, by posting all this half done work.

Please forgive me for being so (macho) dunno the word for it, but you'll know what I mean, I just still gotta learn to stick to a project and start a new one, when the other game is finished. Do you guys have had or still have same problems as I have? To stick to a project, and not giving up at half the way?

What, you mean the three novels on my computer, none of which are half-way finished?  Or the short stories that take a year to write?  That promise to drop 20 lbs by swimsuit season?  My master vacation, which will never materialize, because the US government doesn't want to give me a passport?  My paintings/ fan art / online comic / game?

Projects are hard to finish without motivation.  That's especially true for creative projects, because new things come along to take our time and energy.  If I'm not being paid for something, or getting a huge boost out of creation, then it's not going to get finished.  Recently, I've been trying to remind myself that I do stuff mostly *because* of the creating part - getting finished isn't all that fun.  (That's just me, though.)
The basis of optimism is sheer terror.

Haha. As far as I'm concerned, it's been completely alright for you to post your 3D stuff. I mean, you enjoyed doing the stuff, right? Creative stuff is always great. Although, on the other hand, I'm really glad you're going to finish your old projects. But don't feel like a fool for getting inspiration for a new project. It's just something creative persons have to live with. And if you always hold back when you get inspired, you'll get bored of your current project. Don't let it suffocate your creativity. Every once in a while you deserve a break!

Yeah, I have the same problem. Chrille, Jannar and DarkStalkey surely are not the only one to know about it! ;D

Oh, man. It's great you reminded me. I really need to start working on those projects!

Ana: Doesn't want to give you a passport? Why wouldn't they? Not trying to be too inquisitive here.

:) Minimi, I think about 99% of the people on this board have the exact same problem as you. In fact, I've got about five projects of my own, none of which have gotten past the beginning stages. I have a few character animations, some backgrounds, a little bit of music, and lots of disorganized ideas. That's all part of the creative process. The work just sits on your hard drive until you find the time and motivation to do something with it. And hopefully you will find the motivation.

Don't ask me how.

I promised my project would be done before August and today I'm still less than 1/4th of the way completed. Lots of procrastination on my part and a decline in motivation.  :P Minimi, I'm in the same boat.

I don't think most of us had a problem with you buddy!  I'm currently working on about 4,328,404 different things simultaneously.

Hang in there :)

Well, I've got Rulers of the Ring, Darkness Falls (aka Sandman Chronicles), Pornquest II: Journey Continues, Sword of Artinor RPG to finish making, once I get my computer working again.

Then I also have to finish the Hellraiser: Box of Tears AGS movie, another movie in AGS, and also finish off a few other things for a wrestling game... :P

I have the same problem, too many projects. More recently, I've settled down with two and it's no problem if you can't meet a deadline you said. You're doing it for free and mainly for yourself. There is no rush.

I'm very glad that I'm not the only one here! I had today my first day on a new school... and I guess I'll have really less free time now for my games... so really thanks for your reactions!

I think I have the same problem. I have a couple of projects of my own, but I'm currently developing only one game. I'm also making lots of stuff for many people and I'm glad that they haven't been asking me to do lots of art or music lately.

I'm only working on one project but I can't really find much time to work on it with all this darn college search stuff. Maybe next summer I'll have more free time (if I don't get a job, which I'll probably have to).  ;)

Doing creative stuff for free is HARD, man.  You're probably sick to death of the game right now and can't stand to look at it.  It's ok.  Don't force yourself.  Last year I stopped working on my game for almost eight months.  Then sometime in December I got a rush of inspiration and finished it in a few weeks.  Take a break.  In time, you'll be eager to crack open your code, dust it off, and continue working eagerly.

It IS pretty weird, I think... One moment I'm all excited about something, and in the beginning also, but about at 20 - 30 % of the game you lose your excitement about it, and start thinking of something else to make. Well.. I only find this problem with adventures untill now, because I also work with Multimedia Fusion, from Clickteam. and I finished every project I started with that! Maybee it's because I payed for the utility, but I'm on the other hand not someone that finds money very important in life  :-\
So I just dunno... weird weird weird! ::)

I don´t think is that difficult to go on with projects... There is only one secret... Believe in them. I´ve started one project when I entered in the community, more or less one year ago. Now it is close to be finished... Why? Because my team and me believed on it, from the first day, as soon as the story began to have consistency. Yeah, the history is very important, you can´t start a project without having in mind what do you want, because it is impossible to know when to go on without knowing if that you already have is what you need.

I mean... Imagine you have a background in your mind. As soon as you see in your MSpaint, your photoshop or your PSP what you had in mind, you can start another bg. If you don´t have a nice idea of what you´re aiming for... when will you consider that bg finished? That is frustrating.

and frustation is the main project killer.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!
