Sorry mate. You can only use the editor on Windows. You should however be able to play the games with the mac binaries (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=30021.0).

how sad :'( I love making sprites but now I have no flipping reason to make them. Do you know if their is any chance of a mac version coming out any time soon?

I suspect that it's unlikely, but I can't say for sure.

However if you can make pretty sprites, I'm sure you could find someone to work with. You could post in the Offer Your Services (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=30351.0) thread, or look for people who are asking for sprite artists in the Recruit A Team (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=30347.0) thread.

Thats a pretty good idea! It would save me some of the work, too. I might make a sprite and post it in the critics lounge. If I got windows for mac, would that work?

If you emulate windows on your mac you should be able to use the Editor.

If you use boot camp, AGS will work perfectly; all Boot Camp does is dual-boot windows on an intel-based Mac, so everything that works on windows works identically using Boot Camp. This is what I do; I make all of my graphics and whatnot in Photoshop in OS X, then boot using Windows and run AGS.

Theoretically, you should be able to run AGS in OS X using Darwine (http://"http://darwine.sourceforge.net/"), but I've never been able to get Darwine to work; CrossOver (http://"http://www.codeweavers.com/products/") should also work, but it costs $40, and I've personally never tried it. If you don't want to buy Windows, you theoretically should be able to dual-boot with your choice of Linux and run AGS using WINE (http://"http://www.winehq.org/"), but again, I've never done this - I don't see any reason that it wouldn't work, however - if it can run Supreme Commander flawlessly, I don't see why AGS would be a problem.

All of this is assuming that you have a mac with an Intel (and not a PowerPC) processor.

Actually, the latest version of the AGS mac binaries is three years old now, and I haven't ever managed to get them to work. I've been told that they do work with Leopard, but it hasn't been my experience. I'm also not sure if they work with AGS 3.X.

powerpc. I found a version of darwine that claimed it was for ppc, but it turned out it wasn't. Do you know if there is a genuine ppc version? or if there is anything else that would work on ppc?

Like I say, I can't even get Darwine to work on my Intel mac. If you want to run Windows on a PPC mac, you might try Virtual PC (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/1006), which is a free program; I'm not sure whether or not you need to have a windows CD.

if you really want to make adventure games that desperately you could buy an old second hand PROPER pc for very little money, it's not like AGS requires a behemoth pc to run.
i recently bought a 2GHz P4 with 512mb ram, 40gb hdd, 64mb onboard graphics and windows XP Pro pre-installed for £58 off ebay for my parents and it works brilliantly, and you don't even need a system half as 'good' as that to be able to use AGS and it'd be cheaper.
either that or get rid of your useless mac and get a real pc  ;)

I use a Pentium III, 600 Mhz, 10 GB HD, 128 MB ram, 64 MB Onboard graphics with Win XP SP2, and AGS works perfect, even in rooms with multiple BGs.
