Ok, so call me sheltered but was there erver a talkie version of Fate Of Altantis? I have the original but I was just wishing I had a talkie version....  And if anyone wants to trade Altantis for The Last Crusade PM me  ;D

there is a talkie version, I got it with the lucasarts archive, and on its own. I have Last crusade already anyways, and even though I have 2 copies of FoA, NEVER! I will not part with it! :P
Seriously, the talkie version was not all that special. If you already have it without voice, there is not really any need to get the talkie

Cluey

I had it on disc and it was talkie, after (only being young when I first got it, bout 1995, god I was 7)
And I only found out about the voice and SFX when I was messing with the config files shortly before I got shot of my old 95 computer, so I never got to finish it in "talkie mode"

The talkie of FoA is sweet! And I believe it's available to buy at LucasArts online store.  :=

Hollister Man

Yeah, they couldn't even get Indy to play the part of Harrison Ford!  (Did I get that backwards)  And they call themselves a company... :)  Its nice to have the talkie, but its by no means awesome.

Sure, it's no Harrison Ford, but it's still good - it actually does sound quite a lot like Indiana.

Although, in comparison with other games, the voice overs are a bit of a letdown. I swear, LucasArts must have been the company with the best quality voice-overs. Sam and Max, Loom, Curse of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango...

you realize of course that Harrison Ford would prefer to be paid for those hours and hours and hours of voice acting, right?

Was there a talkie version of The Last Crusade? cause I saw someone on ebay recently selling a copy of it claiming it was the talkie version [PC game, not movie obviously].

Hollister Man

I was kidding Kingsized...couldn't you tell?  ;)  FoA and DOTT are the only two LEC games I ever got, so I wouldn't be able to compare.

I actually think the voice acting in FOA is some of the best ever recorded. I much prefer it to, say, DOTT. LucasArts in general held a very high standard, and I honestly can't think of many non-LEC adventure games that had better voice acting than FOA. Certainly most Sierra games were nowhere near the same standard.

Just compare the voices in FOA to those in the Indy-ripoff "Flight of the Amazon Queen".

Mr Flibble

I was actually disappointed when I found out that Doug Lee didn't voice Indy in The Emperor's Tomb. And I was really excited when I found out he had a cameo in the Star Wars Ep1 game (the one on the PC, 3rd person shooting. Just thought I'd narrow it down a little, there are a lot of SW games)

The don't think Last Crusade ever was talkie, and if it was, it was only the FM Towns version.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

Speaking of Indiana Jones voice pack, check out this link for something "aweful" funny:

http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=2206

Some twisted "fan" of the FoA game made up a rather, uhhh,  different sound file from various speech in the game. They also did the same for "Grim Fandango".

*Warning: The somthingaweful.com site, and the sound-files on that link mentioned is generally not for "kids". If somthingaweful.com was a movie rating, it might get a "R" (Restricted) rating.  :P

Ahhh, yes, I see now thier site is not connecting the files properly, or sometimes it pops up with a "username / password" prompt too.

But, no worries, I've now uploaded the files to my website "Amazing Adventures": www.adventure.easyurl.org ... just click on the "Downloads" link there, and you'll find the sound files ( Indiana Jones FoA, Grim Fandango, and a bonus Resident Evil sound file too  ;D ).

Enjoy!

There's a talkie version of FOA? I NEED IT! I spent my money buying FOA and then they release a talkie? They should give it to me, free of charge!!

Mephistophilis

I had the talkie (probably still around somewhere) but The voices wouldn't work, The Game utterly screwed up if I tried them, It was a while ago and I didn't bother pursuing it, But now I really want to find it again.

I just found out about scummvm now, (not because of redrum, but because I was looking for abandonware, screw me over, I DON'T CARE!!) and I tried running all my SCUMM games. Only now I realised that there's more sound to them than meets the eye. I always played them with no sound because that's how I thought they were made, but... Yeah, was I wrong or what?

Did you know that if you run the MI2 demo via SCUMMVM, and press escape at the title screen you can receive full control of Guybrush? Pretty cool, eh.
