i'd have to say i prefer the old site with it's splash screen, the new one looks so sterile compared to the old design, and the title bars look like window style buttons, it's ugly...

Eh, I didn't like the splash screen much.  It was cool the first time you looked at it, but every time after I'd just instinctively click to get past it.  And besides, getting folks to make new ones was a chore.  That autumn one was fast becoming out of date! :-)

However, you might be right about it being kind of sterile.  That can change.  The new design is template-driven, so it can easily be futzed with.
