Hi all i thought you would like to know about a King's Quest 8 remake that is being made that i read about. Here is the link http://www.kq8project.9f.com/cgi-bin/blog

Hmm a 3d game going back to 2d point and click. That should be interesting. I played that one some but it didn't really feel like a KQ game to me just a game trying to make money off the KQ name.
That link goes to a website that has no more information than your post does. Just that somebody is making a re-make of KQ8. There are no screenshots, no mockups, no character art, nothing. There is a link to a forums that has ONE post with some dude whining about it not being gory ...
I think this is another example of somebody jumping-the-gun and announcing an idea before they have anything actually done.
I'm just glad they didn't post in the Games in Production board!
No offense to anybody anticipating this game but, judging by the quality of the website and the total lack of any substance, my guess is this'll go no further than a whisper of a rumor.
** shrugs **
Is this the first example of a remake going backwards in terms of game evolution? (3D back to 2D P&C)
Hmmm.... 3d to 2d point 'n' click conversion.....
SOMEONE MUST DO THIS TO MONKEY ISLAND 4, FOR GREAT JUSTICE.

Simon the sorcerer 3D was/is being remade in 2D. Sorry to burst your bubble!

No. There's a 2-d version of Zelda's Ocarina of Time, which has been in production for awhile. I'm unsure as to its status quo, but it does have a significant amount of work done for it.
Ahh, thanks for letting me know. Still, there are very few of these types of projects.
Interesting... maybe someday I'll remake Broken Sword 3 into a 2D game. ;)
I really see no point in converting what was an action-heavy game into a point and click game at all. I actually bought Mask of Eternity, unfortunately, and I fail to see how it will scale well into an adventure.
I'm hoping for some thoughtful additions of adventuresque puzzles and whatnot, but that's probably wishful thinking.
I like how Connor, whoever that is, is just Roger with brown clothes
Funnier still is that they did a paintover of one image, and are asking help to make a walkcycle for the rest of the directions.
Indeed. I can't see how this would be considered a "remake", since the original wasn't an adventure. A "re-imagining", maybe. All you'd basically be taking from it would be the story, which was no great shakes to begin with.
Seems like an awful lot of work.

I paid the princely sum of .99c for a 7 and 8 double pack. I was robbed. >:(
Actually, that's called a "demake", as far as I know. I think there was a project to recreate some 3D-007-shooterama-thing on the tech level of the original GameBoy, but I can't remember what it was called.
I was gonna say "demake", but it didn't sound right in my head. :p
And yeah, "re-imagining" works better.
Demake? Nah, well, not to be harsh but ask yourself this question? Why would i do everything so you can go and just do nothing but maybe accept congrats? So just do the walkcycles alone.. or don;t do them. Just paint over Roger.
Why not a 'demake' of KQ7 ? so it looks, feels, and sounds more like an older king's quest game (preferably with art like KQ6) ?
(Just a curiosity as to whether anyone has thought of this is all :-)
Somebody remake King's Quest IV already!
Hey, I just want to say, I'm making the KQ8 remake!
Feel free to ask questions.
Check the homepage again.
Someone is remaking kq4

If I were to de-make a game, it'd be QFG5. But then again, I love every little thing about that series and never got into KQ (except 6~!!)
On another note, check out THIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII_(Famicom)) de-make!! Too bad it's Chinese...

There's also an unlicensed Chinese demake of Bio Hazard for the Famicom. It's not uncommon that pirates make games based on commercial games on more powerful systems to run on less capable systems (sometimes these games carry only the names, the contents are all irrelevant).
Enough about demakes... I need some help for my game. I need some people who can design good VGA (kq1-2 style) graphics. PM me, and join my forum if you are into it. :)
