Thanks for your attention. If you are interested, please stop by the site to read more. If there are any updates about this, I will keep everyone posted. ;D
It seems strange having live auditions, Especially when most people from these forums are not from the USA or NY (and I'm sure won't make the trip), although I'm sure you are advertising this on many websites.
With technology so advanced these days, I think some people would be able to submit samples from all over the world. I know you will want professional sounds and you can't have people using different equipment for the actual recordings, but to get a sample to see if someone has potential is a must I'd say.
It is also essential for a game like this to have many different accents from all over the world, I'm sure there are people from New York that have plenty of different accents, but it is essential not to have too many American accents for a game like this (IMO).
It's Up to your team to decide on these matters, but I'm sure you're limiting the potential of this game by using this method. It's hard to find enough good voices in one place (even in a city the size of NY) but you might get lucky.
Good luck in your quest
Timosity,
I understand your concerns. First let me say that we will have some online auditions that will be announced shortly for people all over the world to fill in small parts characters.
However, since this script is so heavy on the emotional side, we need to be able to direct the actors and such will be the job of Michael Fortunato, who will work with them person to person in the recordings.
The game doesn't really need a variety of accents, and for those cases when we need it, a good fluent english actor should be able to do this. In the world of Daventry, however, we chose English as main tongue, and american as the predetermined accent. It will surely keep a more coherent vision rather than having a mesh of accents.
Thank you for your comments,

An intended pun, I gather ;)
Anyway, I doubt you've been around New York, Timmy. New York is a mecca for American talent. Either that, or Los Angeles, CA. I can never remember. But, point being, you could find practically everything you need in New York. Plus, César pointed out many important reasons for holding live auditions.
I'm offering my services -- kinda free of charge, unless you can send me boxes of candy bars or something -- as a voice actor to some people in AGS-forums who bother to need me. And So far, no one who's contacted me about work and sent me scripts has really done it right. I'm given nearly zero direction on how to read, and I'm not given much on the characters either.
Doing these things live is the best way to do it.
Besides that, what about the previous Kings Quest games? Did THEY get actors from across the globe? ..... Hm .... remind me ........ did they? Or did they get all their talent from Hollywood? Or New York? I can never remember ...
I just hope the King's Quest IX team was able to recruit Josh Mandel to reprise his role as King Graham...
and you know what I was on my way to post that. :)
Cool. I live in NYC. Consider me there.
Josh Mandel rocks. If they didn't get him to reprise it, then I think many fans will be disappointed. ;)
Sorry, guys. Josh Mandel won't be playing Graham.
César.
Hello again! :D
This is just an announcement to say that there has been a slight change of location and times for the auditions. They will now be held on January 10th, 2004 from 9am - 2 pm at:
Where Eagles Dare
347 West 36th Street
New York, NY
Thank you everyone who has shown interest and will try to be there. For those who have applied already, they will receive an e-mail with this updated information. 8)
Fear not, those unable to travel to NYC in January, we will have online auditions for minor roles. Again, the link for further information on auditions is http://www.kq9.org/team/auditions-content.html :)
