Maniac Mansion - Is this possible?

Hey pals!

Last night I was in the car thinking of something else entirely when Maniac Mansion popped into my head and my brain urgently asked me:

"Can you pick up the meteor, climb into the drained pool and then fill the pool with the kid and the meteor down there?"

I did not have an answer for it and I do not own Maniac Mansion to find out!

Any takers?

*The only reason I could see not being able to do this is if you can't switch characters when you go into the meteor's room.

TO THAT I ask, what if you microwave the radioactive water and leave it in there, grab the meteor, head for the kitchen and then open the microwave... I guess you're wearing a rad suit... DAMN!

I could be mistaken and I don't want to fire up Maniac Mansion just to find out, but I think the door to the pool is closed and you can't access the rest of the house during the final showdown with the meteor, you can just enter the garage. But I'm really not sure about that one.

blueskirt is right, i've played the game enough times to know that the gate can not be opened when you go to the garage through the lab, although if you want the game to be unwinnable, all you have to do is close the boot before you get the meteor and make sure your kid doesn't have the key to the car, also the answer to your question about being able to change your character when you get the meteor, you can't.

No, and precisely because you can't switch characters at that point.

However, you can get to the pool: if you start the Edsel without the meteor in it, then that will open the gate to the pool as well.

That certainly won't kill a meteor. It might actually kill you, though, I'm not convinced that wearing a rad suit is an exception here. I do believe that the house will detonate if you die while wearing the rad suit.

Now that you guys talk about it I think I remember every other door being locked. I guess I can tell my brain to stop nagging me about it now!

I don't think that's the case, considering one of the canonical endings is feeding the meteor to the man-eating plant in the attic...
