This thread on reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/9z045/hey_reddit_whats_your_best_paranormalspooky/) contains a comment (the one beginning "This is one my dad told me.") that sounds awfully like some of the gameplay in This Game (http://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1090). Spooky!

Eww. o_O
The original post on that page sounds exactly like sleep paralysis, followed by bullshit about his mother seeing a ghostly figure walk past. Sounds like the friend had a real experience, and then made up the ending bit. I've had sleep paralysis before, and that's exactly how it is.
That is an creepy story. However it's less a case of life imitating art, and more a case of unsubstantiated-internet-story imitating entertaining-freeware-game.
Don't let me disparage too much, I admit it's oddly similar!
It's mainly called "coincidence". ;)
Yeah, Terran, I was just gonna say the same.
Sounds like somebody took the concept of normal sleep paralysis, and exploited the fact that very many people have had this feeling without telling or being able to tell about it. Quite cheap if you ask me.

Agreed. At least two people in the thread mention that it is just sleep paralysis.
The guy who claims he had the "This Game" experience doesn't mention whether he is a mobile-phone salesman though... :)

Heh heh, I like it. That wouldn't have made a very snappy title for this thread though ;)
