Title: Lucasfiles
Post by: MachineElf on Sun 29/06/2003 14:29:50
Maybe this has been discussed here earlier, but what's the deal with http://www.lucasfiles.com/ ?
Is Lucasart positive to fan games?

Ah, of course. I just saw a glimpse of hope there... Not that I'm a big fan of fan games, but it would be cool if Lucasart etc encouraged them.

It would be great, yeah.. I believe there are issues with copyrights expiring unless you enforce them or something :/

this isn't adventure game related, but i remember a while back somebody was making a Quake2 mod called Generations or something like that, which was Doom and Quake for Q2, Id made them stop though, but they said it was because they were using their artwork and said they could continue it if they made it themselves...

It's hardly related to this discussion, and the mod you're talking about is finished. It's for Quake 3. IIRC they teamed up with another mod group.

well, the point i was trying to get across is that if you use original artwork you're not really breaking any copyright laws, and the mod i'm thinking was for Quake2 but it's been developed for Quake3 now...
