Quest for Glory 4 1/2 questions

Hi, I have some questions about this game. I dunno if this is the best place but the creators site is long gone.

Is there sound FX in the game? I know there is music, I can get it working, but I cant get SFX to work.

Also has anybody gotten the higher resolutions to work? I can only play in 320x200. If I try anything higher the game crashes straight away.

Ive been playing thru dosbox btw.
I've also seen mention of a windows version. Is there such a thing?

And then there is some in game questions. The game crashes when I try play poker at the back of "bill's laundromat and bar & grill". Is there some way to fix that or was it something that was supposed to be added later?

I can't use the lasso on the tree to get to the ice cave anymore. I put it on the tree early in the game and used it successfully to get across the chasm but now that I actually have a reason to cross it (got the guard's uniform) I cant. It keeps saying "You cant reach the tree"  like the lasso isnt even there. And if I go there at night time it isnt

As I recall, there is no sound.

There definitely isn't a higher resolution, and neither is there a windows version. Nor will these be created, like, ever.

I don't think playing poker is necessary. I do know the game can be completed.

Yes, there is a windows version and is for windows 2000.

I had an additional question related to this issue. I got the game to run , seemingly, but my monitor spits out an Out of Range error, presumably stating it can't display such a small resolution, or that it's otherwise incompatible. I'm using an LCD-screen from LG, and my graphics card is a 8800 GTS. Does anyone know of any solutions for this problem, or will I forever be unable to play this seemingly awesome game?

If your using the windows version (and you should be, follow the link in the earlier post), run  setup.bat and choose a different resolution. Or choose the "run in a window" mode. That should always work no matter the resolution.
If your setup program is like mine it wont run normally. I had to run it with VDMS which was wierd, but it worked.

Finished this game as a Wizard and Thief now. Its so awesome
