I don't know where to post this, but I absolutely love the Maniac Mansion Mania games. Unfortunately, only few of the many episodes are translated. I would really really love to play them all in English Translation. I liked the game series so much that I attempted to learn some German, the games original language. I usually make out what the text is saying, and if I must, I look it up and translate it for myself.

I was wondering if the creator of the game or anyone for that matter, could create some English translations for each of the Maniac Mansion Mania games. I don't know how translation files are made, but I sure wish I new how, I attempted to make one for myself but it wouldn't run the game with the modified file.

So PLEASE is there anyone who is able to do this? and explain any problems that would make this difficult?

I think you can just post in their own forums, especially the international section. They even have a thread for this. (Oops. That thread is for translating from English to French)

Though MMM games are mainly made with AGS, most of the episodes were initially in German (or some European languages, such as French, other than English) and the people involved seldom really talked about their games or posted progress here (I know that some of them did post here, just didn't talk much about the MMM games, not until an episode is translated to English at least), therefore AGSers who don't dig much outside of this territory (like me) won't know much about what they have done.

To translate an AGS game you'll need to have a translation source file from the game's author and after you fill in the text you'll need to send the file back to be compiled as an usable translation, so your best bet is to post in that forum aforementioned.

I'm part of the MMM community (although not particularly active there for some time now) and translating more of the episodes is a topic that resurfaces from time to time in the forums.

The gist is that many authors unfortunately seem to think translating their episodes isn't worth the effort. There were English people who offered to proof-read, even to do the entire translations by themselves, but not much came out of it; it looks like most of the authors have moved on, concentrating on their next episode, unwilling to put time in a work of the past.

One reason could be that many of the episodes were first games, and maybe the authors are unwilling to face a second wave of criticism.

In conclusion, I wouldn't get my hopes up about seeing more of the old episodes getting translated, it's probably not gonna happen. On the other hand, getting the authors to at least release the translation sources might be worth a shot. So yeah, like Gilbet mentioned, post in the international board, it's the best way to go.
