I have returned home now, after a whole lot of travel problems. I would've been home yesterday if it hadn't been just a whole darn series of unfortunate events that led to me missing my flight.

An 100% Official Report will come soon. Also, pictures!

Is it Cole's Bookstore? I remember going to Toronto when i was younger and we always went into that bookstore. It had 2 floors and a ton of books. I really liked that place.

A good time was had by all, but I've been up for about 26 hours now, ignoring cat naps here and there, so photo's will be later today.

And it's all over for another year  :'(

Eric, Jess and Francisco are safe and sound at Casa De Colossal.

So many hours on the road... We arrived last night at 2am, had pizza and died. But we're alive now!

Wow, I finally made it home as well.

For those not present at the Toronto airport, I had the pleasant surprise that my flight was delayed for, wait for it, six hours. After spending some time in the Toronto mall with the other Mitteners and failing to find ye olde secrete passage, we returned to the airport only to find the flight delay had been escalated to two days. Yep, you heard me right. There was a large bunch of people with no clue what was going on, a phone number handed out that did nothing, and a very long queue that could get you hotel vouchers. After spending approx 1.5 hours making it to the front of said queue, I was given a ticket on a flight to Amsterdam with stopover in Frankfurt. Then I had to spend another hour in line checking my luggage in, because only three of the twenty desks were open, plus some extra time at security because the guy in front of me had a heavy metal christmas ornament (don't ask) in his carryon luggage and was given the third degree. Then in Frankfurt it turned out that my plane to Amsterdam was also delayed by about an hour and a half. Yay for airlines. My total delay was about eight hours, which admittedly is better than forty-eight.

Oh and yeah, Mittens was fun.

We just lost a Grundislav. He is at the airport with a delayed plane [Do airlines have no experience being an airline?!] and Jess and I are now home alone with our kitty.

We don't have many pictures but I think there are more than enough from other people's cameras. Mittens was pretty much amazing and I had a great time. I haven't laughed for a week straight in a long time. No time for a real report because Jess and I are off to the Mittens '04 location to go swimming, it's gorgeous out!

Hooray!
eric and jess

p.s. Pete, you left a piece of yourself in every location you visited. A sock at the cabin, a hoodie in Derren and Grundislav's room [oh la la! PIX PLS], a blue cup in the car and a hair tie in the futon and probably your dinner on the hotel floor in Toronto. And of course, a piece of youself in all of our hearts! AWWWWWWW

I am back now as well, just walked in the door. A mere four hours from Toronto, yet I am certain I was the last one home :P What was going to be a 5 hour wait for my 14 hour coach ride home after leaving everyone at the airport turned into very cool end to Mittens when I bumped into Ivy and Kevfop at the station unexpectedly :D

This year's gathering was fantastic, and the cabin and its amenities couldn't have been better.  As per usual, photos and highlight will be on hold until I get a few more hours kip.

I am back, also.

Thanks to Darren for organising the place, to BaRoN for all the driving, to Scummbuddy for bringing the pixel blocks (and for kindly giving me the Serenity DVD, now I have to work out how to multi-region my player) -- and of course to everyone for coming. It was great to see old friends like eric and jess again, and to meet you new guys.
My only regret is not getting in more time in the hot tub. ;)

I'm back, just got home.  Both my flights were delayed, and I stupidly forgot that maple syrup is a liquid, so they made me surrender it to security as I didn't check my bag.

But all that aside, Mittens was amazing.  I loved seeing all the old faces and meeting the new ones, and laughing all week about stuff like Clumsy Fop and "I'm comin ova now!," the alternate Bible and the sand in the water.

I only took 3 pictures, but I took lots of video, so I'll get that edited and uploaded ASAP.

I got back Friday afternoon and dove straight into Harry Potter 7.  Now that I've finished the book I don't have to worry about anyone phoning certain people with spoilers. :)

Mittens was a lot of fun and it was great meeting everyone.  It was fun to see more of Ontario, visit different cities, and laugh over the kid's colouring books at a certain Bayfield restaurant.  Did the picture of the foxes survive?

I'll have pictures up after I've sorted through them.

Tim Horton...

QuoteEarly on the morning of 21 February 1974, while driving on the Queen Elizabeth Way from Toronto to Buffalo in his white De Tomaso Pantera sports car, (a gift from Sabres' GM George "Punch" Imlach), Horton was involved in what is now an infamous accident. He was negotiating a curve on the QEW where it crosses over Twelve Mile Creek in St. Catharines, Ontario when he lost control and hit a cement culvert. The impact flipped the vehicle and Horton was thrown. He was not wearing a seat belt. Horton was reported dead on arrival at the local hospital. A police officer pursuing Horton's vehicle said that he had been travelling at over 160 km/h (100 mph).

There were reports Horton had consumed a considerable amount of vodka, and was rumoured to have been taking pain killers due to a jaw injury suffered in practice the day before. An autopsy report released in 2005 showed Horton had a blood alcohol level of twice the legal limit. The blood test also showed signs of amobarbital, which was possibly a residue from the Dexamyl pills that were found on Horton's body. Dexamyl was a prescription drug that mixed an amphetamine with a depressant. The autopsy showed no indication Horton was taking painkillers as previously thought.

Doing this can get you your own franchise named after you. My sister loves his coffee though.

You know, as an avid coffee drinker that has been told by several Canadians that Tom Horton's coffee is very good, I was looking forward to trying it, and I wasn't very impressed. It didn't taste any better than an average cup of convienience store coffee. Maybe I was expecting too much, though.

"You have to make mixed drinks twice as strong, otherwise they don't show up on film - Kevbot"
Thanks. I'm glad people found that so funny.

Hey all,
I know it's been a while in posting since I returned, but I just wanted to thank everyone for making this old fop feel right at home on the retreat. I was nervous at first to be sharing a cabin in the middle of nowhere canada with more than a dozen strangers, but you all were amazing people and I'm happy to have met all of you.

Everyone has to find their own technique when it comes to bubble blowing... And that's all I'll say on that!

Grundislav, you have a beautiful voice. Pity it didn't capture Kev saying "Now get the fuck outta our country" afterwards ;)

Everyone can sarcastically thank Erin for rummaging around my computer and deleting teh UlTiMaTe Monkey Island fan game.

And one of my favorite quotes comes from Eric:
''Yeah, because eating an egg that comes from a rabbit makes it THAT much more appetizing'' referring to those lovely Cadbury eggs.

Now who's jealous?!

The Clumsy Fop is my favorite movie of all time.
And that's not an easy thing to say about Canadian cinema.
