Hi  

Now that January is nearly elapsed it seems like it is time to start discussing this thing again. While previous threads have gone on about where to hold the 2010 meetup and possible venues, regardless of where it is I think the next thing to discuss is when to hold it, which we can then use as a guideline for picking a place.

Last year was the odd year with Mittens being held toward the end of June rather than the late July/August that it normally was previously (I think due to property availability?) which seemed to be fine overall now that the majority of us are not studying or something as has been the case with many prior events. Perhaps everyone interested should state what times they are not available this summer and what their preferred timeframe would be if any.

For myself, once again this year I plan on doing another 6 or so week trip (which I am well-positioned to do more successfully this year than in other years ) so I am flexible, though have a preference toward the latter half of summer as opposed to earlier on.

Would love to join Mittens this year. No sure yet it if it'll work out with my job, but it would need to be in July or August.

I'd like to go again this year! I'm leaving my job some time this spring and probably not starting the next one until this fall, so I should be free most of the summer.

Only thing is, I probably have to go to a conference in Finland on 9-11 June, and definitely to the wedding of a friend of mine in Cyprus on 24 July (and a couple of days before/after).

For me, the ideal thing (esp. if we hold it in Italy) would probably be from Monday 26 July and on. But like I said, almost any time would work for me.

I am planning a trip to Holland/Germany in late September but before that my dates are completely open as well.  Barring some major shit going down in my world I wouldn't miss it for anything!

Any date should be okay for me. Late July / early August is generally when it happens though.

I've got a short trip planned at the beginning of June, so any time after the 14th would be good for me.

And CJ, don't worry, I don't think Italy will be as hot as Florida.

Inner italy has somewhat nasty summers. But near the sea, hot weather is mitigated by light breezes and the opportunity to take a bath whenever you like.

I'd prefer late July/early August personally, but thats just because I've got other financial comittments that I doubt would help me towards Mittens if its earlier than July. But generally, I'm flexible

So far we had the possibility of third week-ish of June and late July into August with the last few replies pushing for the latter. To be more accurate lets say after sometime after 26 July (per Snarky who has a specific availability) through the first week of August as requested by Petter. Still looking possible is the third week of July from perhaps about 15 to 22.

It's looking like the best dates so far among these replies is 26 July to about 8 August, a two week window which should make looking for properties easier.
