QuoteMiami was only slightly less expensive than the house AGA is suggesting.

FYI telling the rental folks that we're a group of twentysomethings doesnt actually help matters, they usually expect that to mean its more likely to get trashed.  We're not any different to any other group of friends wanting to rent a villa in a competitive area in Tuscany, there's no bargaining to be had here - what have we got to offer them that would make them consider giving us a discount?

If you want to look for campsites, then feel free, but it seems like over the last few years (since 2007) that renting somewhere more private is the way things are going as less of us are students and more of us have full time jobs.

Um, what game did you make again*? ;)

LOL I think we would have younger folk joining us this year? I can't remember the list. If the people interested reflects an age old group that just keep getting older then fair enough. Yes people do get jobs and so forth, but I don't see why that becomes important. It should be affordable to everyone who is part of the AGS community. Like I say I'm not opposing the idea, everyone who's attempting to make deals is doing a great job, Bez, disco etc.. but hey better we actually talk about it. I'd hate to think Mittens gets sorted without any debate ;) And on a personal note I do have to consider these options because myself and a few others are interested in making another movie at Mittens.

*Mind you that's the first time in 10 years I actually have grounds to use that line. Ha!

Much cheaper:

28 people max, £200 each for 22 people, £142 for 28. That would cause a reason for girlfriends to be allowed ;) Nearer the end of August though

20 people max

There are still more options out there. All with better photos  ::) If most people have jobs then I assume they get to choose when they can take their 21 days off - so why not go to Berians place in September, when it's cheaper, but just as warm?

Well that is confusing regarding the amount of people the first link accomodates. At the top it says 28, then it says 22 twice in the description (in reference to outdoor seating and to beds between 9 rooms), or does this place have gîtes too :P

I like that is has "rich" fabrics too.

Well I'll take another look at this, dunno if flying into Firenze costs more than Florence though.

However, I think at this point everyone has committed to the agreed upon dates of 26 July to 2 August, which are likely harder to shift than anything else. I know it would be tough to work around for me.

hmm I thought Firenze was a city in the south of Tuscany, and Florence was a bit further north :P how embarrassing!

Also I would like to add my thoughts on the cook/cleaning people being there when we are. I agree with Mark that is would be rather awkward to have people cooking and cleaning, as I would rather look after myself in both of those categories, and part of the fun is making a mess of the kitchen in particular :D

Not that we get up to too much mischief but I think if they were there full time it would be sort of a buzzkill for some of our spontaneous activities like roof quests and queen burnings and other such things.

If there is a way to opt out of that for our stay, that would be perfect.

AGA

I've emailed the people, to see if no maid/cook service is possible.

AGA

Apparently it'll be â,¬200 less without the cook service. So â,¬310 per person.

I guess what it really comes down to now is, are (most) people okay with booking this place, or do we seriously look into other places?

Pumaman

Thanks for trying to get this sorted, AGA.

It's strange that they're quoting a price higher than the Max listed on their own website, if we decide to go for this one then you could try sending them an e-mail offering EUR 7000 to start with and see if they accept!

I'm happy to just go with this and get on with getting it booked, because time is ticking by now ... so can everyone else who mentioned an interest in coming please confirm now whether you're definite and can afford the price!

AGA

I really don't feel comfortable trying to haggle. The price difference thing is a bit weird, but maybe the price on the site is without the staff or something.

I'd love to come, but I start a new job next week. So I don't know if I will get the week of.
