I found his art, at random, on the internet, then figured he has already posted here, you really should have a look at his work !!!

This isn't the place for posting other people's work, just yours (and for getting critique and help with it). I'm moving this to Adventure Talk.
I was about to be lead programmer but I quit the job. Anyway I'm not to tell anything else except that the backgrounds I've seen Rock. Hope Patrick isn't still pissed with me.
I've goota say, I prefer the way it looked before.
I've spoken with him before and as I understand it it's a bit of a lifetime WIP. Though MI remakes may not be on the top of people's lists, I think it looks great, it's nice that it's in 3D and not a 2D remake. I think his 3D versions of the backgrounds are superb. If it's ever finished I'll definitely give it a play :)

No way!!
Don't wanna be discouraging (in case the artist himself even watches this thread) but that background was rather ugly and I hope he decides to try 2D instead. I'd never play anything looking like that...

Also make sure that the next pixture is even wider, so even longer paragraphs end up as one-liners.
The side-scrolling bar is there for a reason!
These backgrounds are quite good, but I find them too cold for MI's overall mood, and the circus one is awfully undetailed.
That being said, a MI1 remake is a big no-no. It is the pinacle of overkill useless remake idea as MI1 is one if not the best adventure game out there and there are still dozens of adventure games with marvelous story that are plagued with bad graphics, bad interface, lot of bugs and bad design flaws, stories which, unlike MI1, truly deserve to be re-told.
While I think the backgrounds look good I just don't see a point in a 1:1 3d remake of the backgrounds. If you're going to do a 3d remake then it should be fully 3d and not static backgrounds, imo.
I think mankind should leave the Monkey Island games at their 2-dimensional state. Monkey Island 4 is the living proof... :-\
But, I have to say, the art is done very nicely.
