Interactions: Point of view. What do you think?

Something suddenly struck me. Now it intrigues me.

I'm talking about Interactions: Mainly Looking.

Do you believe this interaction should be:

A: From the characters point of view.
B: From the game players point of view (as if to give YOU the game player more info).

I'd like to know what you think.

I believe this should be a seamless part of game design concept. There's no universal answer. Every game has its peculiarities, its way for player to interact with world, and its way to interact with player.

In some games the puzzle solving depends more on observation. In these games it would be wise to give player more detals about surroundings.
In other games the surroundings may be less important, therefore detailed descriptions could become too tedious to read every time.

If the game focuses on main character and HIS/HER vision of the world, making player "see" with character's eyes and share his passions, it could be natural if it gave information from character's perspective.
If the "objective" narration is prefered, it would be better to explain everything as impartial beholder would see it, and not game character.

Sometimes games mix these types and may have, for example, a character's description of an object, followed by (ironic) comment by narrator.

In general I prefer it when the character describes the interaction. I suppose, in most cases I think of the character as an extension of the player, so any observations and interactions are done by me, through the character on screen.  If there is any information that appears on screen that is intended solely for the player, there must have a damn good reason why the on-screen character is not getting the same information, especially if it is meant to help you (and therefore the character) progress in the game.
