Title: My "let's play"-experiment.
Post by: Bulbapuck on Wed 29/04/2015 09:56:52
Hello everyone! How have you been?

A few months back I started lurking here again and found quite a few games I wanted to try. Oddly enough I couldn't find the motivation to start them up. I realized that I had a hard time just relaxing with a game, and I wanted to feel like I was accomplishing something by playing it.

So I started a "let's play" - channel. I'm not the best at LPing, I mumble a lot and I don't have time to edit much, but it's been real fun so far and I'm looking to improve. I'm going to try uploading a video a day for a while and see how it goes.

If you're interested the channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Bulbapuck/videos (https://www.youtube.com/user/Bulbapuck/videos)

I would love some suggestions on what I should play or comments on how I can improve :)

The quality of the videos is fine for me. The best thing you can do is keep at it. Let's play channels like these are really good when there's a large number of games covered. You certainly have a lot of source material. There's years of play time in the AGS games list.

@mouth of war: Hey man :D I'm great! It has been way too long. Really want to return though, too many good memories. Hur är det med dig?

@Gurok: Thanks! I think so too. There's nothing spectacular about my videos so I'm just hoping to cover a ton of games. Quantity over quality kinda :p

Hey! :D

I randomly came across your blind to siberia video the other day and could have sworn I recognised your username! Turns out I did from way back when when I used to lurk these forums. Since then I have made a few games, of which you have now played two :). So firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to do that - I really enjoyed watching you think your way through them, and secondly, I apologise for some of the random puzzles and the very obscured meaning buried within blind to siberia haha.

You've got a good personality for doing let's plays, your english is very good and I like your accent (guessing Scandinavian from the above comment ;)) so keep at it and I think you'll do well. Another subscriber here anyway!

Thank you! :cheesy:
It was my plessure, the games were really good. Even though I got confused by the story in blind to Siberia it was still a very well put together game and I still enjoyed it (which is why I checked out IAMJASON). The puzzles have generally been very well designed too, it's just tricky to think and talk at the same time. So no need to apologize at all :)

Hi Bulba. Long time no speak, dude. Hope you're well.

Thanks for playing and LPing Power Nap. It really means a lot. It's great watching someone play and react to my game. I'm glad you enjoyed it (or seemed to anyway) despite being driven to near-insanity by the soundtrack. (laugh)
I'm actually working on a slightly updated version in which I have made a toggle to turn the music on and off, but I've gone away for a few days and won't have time to upload it before the MAGS deadline.

Keep making vids, man. And feel free to LP Hen-Man :-D X

Hey Stupot! :cheesy: I'm great, how have you been?

I did enjoy Power Nap, the concept and puzzles were very nice. I think a toggle for the music is a great idea though (laugh)

A big reason I'm doing this is that when I was making games and levels and stuff I thought it was very interesting to watch someone else play it, so I'm happy that you guys have seen these videos. I'll put Hen-Man in the queue :)

Hmm tips on how to improve... in all honesty I actually tried to do Let's Playing waay back when (before it blew up into what it has become now- I started with Oblivion, never finished it, took it off youtube), I was meh at it lol. Though if you want to mumble less, I think practicing tongue twisters could/may help? "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers...".

As for game suggestions, Mess Goblins was uber adorable and very well made. I think it would be fun to see some of the older AGS games as well like 'Two of a Kind' or 'Prodigal' by Trisk.
*cough*'A Simple Fix' and 'All Gone Soon'*cough*

Oh and there's also The McCarthy Chronicles, that was a very enjoyable game.

@vertigoaddict: Thanks for the suggestions! I've started trying some vocal excercises, it definitely helps starting an episode up! So thank you for that.
I think it turns out best when I have no idea what the game is about, so I've put "Prodigal", "A simple fix" and "all gone soon" in the queue

@Stupot: My pleasure! Really enjoyed it xD
