Title: Name of the IDE
Post by: colorthemap on Tue 30/08/2011 23:37:49
So I really like the name Big blue cup.  But Adventure game studio sounds kind of ... silly.   I don't think it represents the power of the engine and has no real connection to big blue cup.  So I ask why the name choice and why not something like Big Blue cup creator.  Or something of the sort.  ( I had a better one but it slipped my mind hmm..)  Any ideas.

You could always try for Budding Heroism Toolkit (http://crystalshard.net/index.php?g=4), or BHT for short...

Because if you name it the BBC Creator no one will get what this is about.

The blue cup (http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Blue_Cup) was an in-joke (read the 1st point from the linked page to see why) and was considered some sort of cult mascot by the community. Thus, when we got the new domain some years ago it's named BBC.com.

On another note, AGS used to be called Adventure Creator and one main reason for the name change was that AGS was not solely a game creating package but contained both the editing part and the game engine (in AGI game creators the AGS interpreter is usually not contained in the package). This was to reduce confusion. If it were to be called the BBC Creator there'll be even more confusions.

...plus...you know...this software is used to make adventure games and not to drink coffee...so there's that whole "logic" thing.
