International website from Maniac Mansion Mania

Maniac Mansion Mania has a little international website now. There you can find the translated episodes from this website directly. There is also a spanisch translation from the Bernard Starterpack.

The Maniac Mansion Mania community is also still looking for some englisch translators for new episodes and the starterpacks, who have good knowledge with the german language.Ã,

Sorry, that I make a second post after my first entry, but I have some important news for you:

First: An english version of the Bernard starterpack is available now. Finally, you have the possibility to create a Maniac Mansion Mania game in english. Thank goes to Cossack, who made the spanisch version also. The starterpack is in the main page of Maniac Mansion Mania from my first post!

Second: We created an international board in our forum. Everybody who can't speak german have the possibility to show his/her episode or to ask some questions about this project in this special forum.

If somebody make an englisch Maniac Mansion Mania game, it would be a pleasure for me to translate them into german.Ã,

It'd also be a pleasure for about 99% of this forum, I'm sure, if someone translated the german MMM games into English.

Agreed.  Surely if you're able to translate english games to german you could just as easily translate all the mania games to english?

No worry! I will ask the authors of the new episodes, if I could translate them into the english language. But there is one problem: Some authors could lost their files from their old games from the first seasons. (like me!)

But I don't give up the hope that the old files are lost. So I hope that I get the original scripts from the old games to translate them into english.Ã, 

One more thing: I'm not the only programmer of the games.Ã,

Yes, we know you aren't, and we know it all depends on the games' creators. I was just expressing, once again, my frustration - myself and many other people who don't speak german are barred from playing many MMM games, which look very good. While English is pretty much an international language. So, by stubbornly not translating their episodes, those creators who didn't effectively barred themselves from a huge quantity of potential players. And the players actually wanted to play.

Incidently, any games posted on the international forum with the default language not being German will also appear on the regular, default MMM homepage... right?

I think so, because it is an adventure series like Sam & Max and Bone from Telltale Games. So if a game will be released, it gets its own episode number, which you must sign in your game first, before you load it up in the internet. After this the game will be put in the game list of Maniac Mansion Mania.

I made a topic in the Maniac Mansion Mania forum about this matter. I asked them, if they would translate their games into the english language also.

its not so easy, as it sounds when i read your words.
cause translate an english episode to german is rather easy,
but the opposite isnt, cause we are no english native speakers.
most of us knows english from school like me, and i understand very much when i read it.
but write a sentence with the correct grammar, and nuts and bolts in english is impossible.
so the translation would be not much fun, for an english native speaker to read.
but it would great, if someone could correct and polish the translations.

Yeah, if you provide a first pass translation that is comprehensible, I'm sure native English speakers will help you with corrections and improvements.

Ayuh, listen, so many people here at the forums aren't native English speakers. We all know it, and we don't really mind. And mostly, when the creator himself wants to make it better (Sektor13 and Bernie -Reactor 09- spring to mind) he needs but ask, and people will help re-translate.

If that's the reason why more games haven't been translated, then there's been a problem with communication. You want to make the games! We want to play them! We can work together in this!

Rayman did a major overhaul of his latest episode (Nr. 40) and I offered myself to translate it. I'll receive the translation file soon so I can proceed to check my translation in-game. When this is done, I'd love to have it overlooked by a native english speaker.

Anybody who has a good grasp of his mother language is welcome to offer his services to me via PM. I'll then choose one based on my experiences here in the forums

The translation file consists of ~1800 lines, so there are going to be around 300 hotspot descriptions and 500 lines of text to check.

Please include an email address in your PM, alternatively I can upload the file somewhere.

I'm working at the translations of "The Curse of Maniac Mansion" by Rayman and "The Secret of Maniac Mansion" by Mister L. (Hmmm, have these titles something to do with Monkey Island?!?  ) 

I will need the help of a native english speaker, when I have finished my work at the translation of the games.
