There was an OLD adventure/arcade game based on Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.  They need to pass history class, so they go back in time to recruit historical figures to help them pass.  Freud, Napoleon, Michaelangelo, Khan, that sort.  It was really cool for a grade schooler.  I think it ran in eight colors, as it always looked really reddish.

Another text parser game I had was Timequest (I think.) This rogue time agent goes back in time and screws up several important events, such as Caesar's assasination, Constantine's conversion, Winston Churchill's speech during WWII, and he told the Aztecs that the conquistadores were not gods, but demons.  All in all you have to go back and save time.  The character goes through a chariot race, investigating a pyramid for Napoleon, a rondevoux with Cleopatra, King arthur almost cuts off your head, and much more.  Let me know if you would like to try it, I think I can dig it out.

I remember the Bill & Ted point and click. The GUI sucked.

I also remember a game that sounds like your Timequest thing made by Adeline? (LBA people)... I think...

Anyway, I don't like text parsers, but interesting stuff!

I remember Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure being very buggy and you would always overlap everything.

I remember Timequest.  It was made by Legend.  You can get it off underdogs.  Very interesting game, with some wonderful time travelly puzzles and a brilliant endgame.

I vaugly remember playing the Bill & Ted game at a friend's house.  Was this the one where you had to jump over paint cans a la Donkey Kong to get to the top of Michaelangelo's scaffold?

Bill & Ted sounds like it could be a good game if somebody remade without the text parser bit...

I can't seem to remember if Bill&Ted had a parser, but I do remember vividly falling into a ravine fifty times while trying to get up a mountain, and not being able to climb the mountain when I finally got there.

YES, it did have the paint cans!  You also had to dodge bombs before Napoleon and tennis raquets (!) to get to Freud.  NARF!

I loved/hated the endgame for TIMEQUEST.  I ended up getting a walkthrough just to finish.  That last one where you HAVE to remember to call out the number to yourself, was trippy.  At least it wasn't timed.  I think it would be great as a remake.  The other thing is I think it was verb coin maybe.  I don't know much about the interface, but you could click on which action you wanted to take, then it would narrow the choice for the next word.  Made it slightly easier.  :)
