I am very interested in learning how to program AGS. I am an artist looking to get involved in a simple game project. For me, doing the backgrounds, animations & masks are the easy part. But actually assembling the game mechanics are the hard part. I understand the logic of what needs to be done but getting the game to understand/execute it is another story and something I need to learn.

I would like to team up with someone in creating a simple game to help me learn how to do some of the scripting. My art is very cartoonish. Here is a link to a simple turtle walking around a living room that I did. The door is actually an object superimposed over an empty doorway.

http://www.members.aol.com/auraboyx/cartoon.zip

I never was able to get the door to open while still blocking the turtle when it was closed (I tried a second unwalkable area that would become walkable upon opening the door (accompanied by an open door animation of course) but after about thirty tries my head was spinning). So there it stands un-openable.

At any rate you can see my artistic style (though I am not locked into this style and can be somewhat versitile as long as it is along a cartoon style). I do not do any realistic stuff and perfer to work in higher resolution.

I am very serious on working on a simple game that covers the basics. I am willing to invest the time in creating all the backgrounds, area/hotspot/object masks & animations if someone else willing to invest the time as well.

I don't want to start this and have someone dissappear or abandon the project a few weeks or months in. I really want to learn. So if your up for it! :) Let me know!!! Also, perhaps this would be an oppurtunity to create an open source tutorial/project that could be used so other people can see how it was done too.

Nothing heavy just a simple game. Let me know if anyone is interested. :)

If you are interested, email me at auraboyx@aol.com and make the subject in all caps with AGS in big letters (I get so much junk mail it's hard to filter through them). I am really looking forward to working with someone.

As long as you don't mind your color scheme being horribly, horribly distorted....Palette Quest IIId could use a proper artist. Let me know if you're interested. :=

Music  - I'm a young, enthusiastic adventure game genre fan, studying for a diploma in music theory/composition and would love to do some game music (have some experience in film scores). If anyone needs some assistance of such, I'd be more than happy to do some time on the instruments... ;) In case someone is interested, you can pm me and request a sample.
I can do midi, hq audio (mp3), instrumental or voice, whatever required...

P.s. I consider epic and/or dark music to be my specialty though I've written almost all kinds of music that come to my mind at the moment...

Best regards!  ;)

OverWind

I'm a good programmer/scripter, and I got the stamina to see a game through.

I'd like to work together with a skilled artist, story-writer and musician towards a full-length game. I'd prefer only 1 person for each role (to make sure the game is consistent).

I prefer cartoonish graphics instead of realistic graphics :)

I have my own company which means that some weeks I'm very busy and other weeks I can use almost all my spare time on the game.

If you're interested you're more than welcome to send me a PM.

I'm a long time adventure game fan. My favourite games are the LucasArts ones, but I love adventures of all stripes. Lately, I've been enjoying the Ben Jordan series and Super Jazz Man. It's always been a dream of mine to create a game of my own. However (and this is a big however), I am seriously artistically challenged to the point where I've given up in frustration.

All that said, I'd still like to be involved in creating a great adventure game. So I'm offering my skills to the wider world in the hope that I can be part of a collaborative effort. I'm a good writer (and can proofread too, if that's any help) - I can contribute to both writing dialog and also coming up with plot / puzzles. Scripting isn't a problem for me either, since I work as a coder.

So, in summary, if you want a creative mind to take your story to the next level or a right-brain coding geek to solve your scripting woes, I'm eager to help on an exciting project. I have a reasonable amount of time to spend on it, without being able to go full-time and I'll always carry my tasks through to completion.

So PM me :)

I don't like drawing but I love music.  If you want high quality, orchestral sounding mp3s for your game, let me know and I promise I'll deliver!
I fail at art.

I can proof-read scripts for errors, or just to give my two cents on it (not that you'd be interested). I can also help out with writing, be it descriptions, dialogue, full-length stories, etc.  8)

Hey.

MUSIC - I have a masters degree in music from a decent English uni - Given my current profession, I have little time now to promote my own stuff and have it played, a bit of composing on the side do go alongside a good adventure fits me great :D
I am interested in doing something a bit different - ask someone else if you want epic orchestral scores. If you want something unique and original (hopefully like your game) I'm the man. I've had works played by internationally acclaimed ensembles and soloists and this is where I specialised as a student. Will work for free for an interesting, original creation.

SCREENPLAY/PROOF READING As a long time adventure game nut, and generally well read kind of guy, I also offer my time to read and offer opinions on any scripts, stories or dialogues.
I also have a good story premise for a programmer who needs some inspiration (and an ambitious project), I'll get round to writing the story myself one day if no one wants it now.

Email me marcnethercot@hotmail.com

Thanks!

I'm available for the following:

Subject to time availability and being given hints or the answer when I get stuck ;)

Don't forget to proof-read your game before you release it! It can make all the difference. I'll happily weed out your typos, misplaced apostrophes, grammatical errors, etc. British or American English (please specify).

Language is one of my hobbies. I can help with translation into (British or American) English from French and Italian, both of which I speak fluently, and to a lesser degree, from Spanish and Portuguese.

I don't claim to know everything there is to know about scripting, but as a programmer by trade, I can help with algorithms, program logic and the like.

I was not sure where I should post this. Having some luck with past AGS Games, I thought I would offer our service.

In the effort to build our company in the last 3 years, we have learned the hard way about marketing, publishers, distributors, advertisement, and how to handle it all.

We are now offering small developers, a chance to benefit from our experience. To increase our product base we are opening ourselves to publishing. We have put together 5 packages for the developers, with no cost to them. 3 of our 5 packages are non-exclusive agreements as well.

We have test marketed these packages for the last month, (some of you may have received emails from me as part of that testing) and feel confident we can help small game developers build there market presence.

No nothing is for free, and we do require a royalty based pay, and not all games submitted to us will be accepted.

In short I am hoping this will be one more tool a small developer can use to market there game. As I am busy with the client's we have already brought on, I ask you to email any questions, commits, or things of that nature to me at john.leutzii@mythopoeagames.com

or visit our web site

I have added a spot in the forum for developers to leave there product information. I will be updating this through out the day with more information for you all.

Hi, I would like to offer my services to all your game makers out there! I am willing to help out anyone's game, in dialogs, BETA-testing, Story writing and I would like to have a go at voice acting. I would preferably like to work on a small game to gain some experience, but as I said, I would just like to be a part of a game. My E-mail is Mounkey@hotmail.co.uk for anyone interested.

Hey all!

Whenever I started, or wanted to start a game I quit somwhere in the process. I'm sick and tired of it and I really want to have an adventure game that I'd call my own!

I'm looking for people who have the same problems like me and want to work on a game that we would actually finish.
I don't specialize in any field, so that is what makes this story more interesting.
I am very creative and could do magic in the artistic field, only I've never done anything real in the digital form. Also I want to be a big part in the story making and would respect your ideas equally as mine. I don't know $#!+ about programming so I'd like someone who has those skills.
Music. We'll also need great music. Or good music. Or bearable music... Plain sounds will do fine.

You don't have to have the opposite  "features" that I have, only a will to do a game till the end (or as much as possible  ;) ). Also a team thing could work.

Peace all and stay in touch.

Hi all,

LittleMonkey Ltd has recently relaunched the website with a view to becoming a hub of game development and distribution (www.littlemonkey.co.nz).

Being an old school adventure game player myself I would love to have some adventure games featured on the site.

We are happy to promote both free and commercial games, LittleMonkey will manage marketing, payment processing, distribution and support for commercial games and pay generous royalties on sales through the site.  In addition we don't require any exclusive publishing arrangement and you are free to set the retail price for your games.

If you are making free games we are also happy to feature selected games on our site and host them for download.

If your game requires any preparation before publishing LittleMonkey can offer proof reading and testing services, installation/packaging and license management systems for copy protection free of charge in order to assist in getting a finished product released for sale on the site.

If you would like any more information you can either:

email me - nick at littlemonkey dot co dot nz
join Littlemonkey at www.littlemonkey.co.nz and use the contact forms

I look forward to hearing from you, and getting some great games out there!

Cheers,

***MUSIC***

I'm a musician/composer who is currently majoring in music composition. I'd be more than willing to compose some music for your game.  It's been a long while since I've wrote any video game music but I assure you I am very capable as I am on the path do doing this for a living one day.

So what I am trying to say is this: I don't really have any fitting samples of video game music to let you hear but here is my proposal - gimme a little project to work on (be it title screen music, battle music, just a little fanfare, whatever) and i'll compose you a lil something. If you like it - you can keep it and i'll write more for you - if not - then don't use me. I think it's a fair deal.  :)

When asking me to write music here is what i request and it will ultimately make the music better:

Include as much detail as humanly possible.  I hate it when I'm asked "Just write me a character theme for this main character" and i get no info on the character or how their input on how they'd like the music to sound.

So give me lots of detail:
-the mood of the piece
-the tempo of the piece
-how the piece will be used in game
-if you kind of have an idea of how you think it should sound do your best to -explain that to me
-even a screenshot of a character or area that the music will be used in would be very helpful
-if their is a song (whether it be from another game or whatever) that you kind of what your song to sound like I'd rather you not send me that song and just do your best to explain it - because I don't want to accidently "rip" some1 elses work.  However, if it's one of those "you've got to hear this" kind of things then it's cool.  ;D

Also, i'm beginning work on a game of my own. If you feel that you could contribute in anyway then that is all i ask of you in return of my service.

Thanks, Hope we can work together   :D
