The Dig has been remarkably different once, though the core design seems to have remained the same. Another character died and resurrected and all that? Strange.

Full of spoilers, so probably more for people who have played and finished The Dig.

Interesting, but not news from people who've read from it in The INventory magazine. :=

Apologies, I haven't. Perhaps others will have not too.

Oh, no worries. I posted before really reading it, actually, and it does have new stuff. And it's a great collection of info.

The whole http://home.comcast.net/~ervind/ site is a great collection, there's a few more The Dig articles too.

I like The Dig and hadn't heard about that article previously Helm so it was a great read! Thanks for mentioning it. The death by acid bit was gruesome & interesting to learn about, and their spacesuits looked a bit funkier! Mmmm. Time to play the dig again methinks.

ManicMatt

Yeah thanks for that, insightful.  :)

I on the other hand, won't play the game ever again, as it lacks the things I like in adventure games.. shall I go into that? Nah off topic, right?

Mac

That original Noah Falstein version sounded muchly interesting... It's a bit of a shame they never completed it.

F..Fun? Is it lacking fun? I bet it's fun... Yea it's gotta be fun...

...

Anyway, I love seeing all this art even if I don't really like the game or the art direction... I also love this sentence:

"Toshi Olema melts to death as a result of being struck by acid drops."
"This must be a good time to live in, since Eric bothers to stay here at all"-CJ also: ACHTUNG FRANZ!

Overall, yeah that's it!

I like games where I meet interesting characters, and solve interesting puzzles. This had neither.

*waits for someone to dispute the puzzle issue, forcing me to expand on what I said*

Never liked The Dig. Lacked...interest. Plus, for some odd reason, it reminded me of the Mars sections of Zak McKraken. Didn't like those either.

Far more interesting to see the creative changes it went through. Thanks, Helm.

I'd love to play both the Moriarty and Falstein versions, both sound a lot less... pedestrian than the version released. I really loved the first two-thirds of game though, it nailed the exploration enjoyment factor and the soundtrack is fantastic. It did have some pretty bad puzzles... or at least poorly implemented puzzles though (geometry sticks! aah!). A bit of a letdown when the core concept would lead to perhaps more interesting gameplay.

It's funny to see the original sprites as crappy paintovers of Indy and Sophia from FOA.

Does anyone know why they didn't go with Moriarty's version?

I think that's just the same artist and it's his style, BB.

I'll check out ripped Indy sprites. Pretty sure the layout of the pixels on the face is the same. Also the stance. I'm about 85% sure. I'll let you know when I find out.

The Top one is the original Brink, the one below is Indy from FOA, and the one below that is their lovechild (Indy sprite 50% opacity over Brink Sprite).

Paintover?
