Hello folks,

For my subject Computer Sience (Dutch translation: Informatica) I want to make a game template for the programming practise. (I'm in my pre-graduation class)

Since this template will be used by 1rst and 2nd year students, it has to include some basic stuff for making an adventure.

I want to know a few (more) things about what to include in my planned game template.

This is what I'm planning to include:
- About 5-8 backgrounds
- Some characters to talk to
- Music and sound, if I ever manage to compose some midi's (Yes I have a midimaker programme (shareware), no I don't have talent. This explains why I always need help with the music of my own games...). The sound will be downloaded from websites.
- About 10-15 inventory items.

If someone has suggestions, please post those.

The game template will be downloadable from my website.

Hmmmm some GUI icons (or even GUI templates) maybe ?
Unless you just let them use the default Sierra GUIs (with buttons drawn by our talented CJ := ) or you also want them to make the GUIs themselves.

Maybe sound effects is a also a good idea.

I'll recommend peeking at the Instagame Paks (I think this is still obtainable from Redrums' resource site called something like Eric space pak) and steal borrow some ideas from there.

Would the pak be also publicly available? It'd be great if you can also share it since we're currently short of this kind of resources.

You can also use DemoQuest as a resource for your project as well.   You may want to look at the documentation and templates as well.  YOu can find everything here:

You can also find free music in the contributions thread :)

I can make you some extra tunes, too - if you want to specify a style then I'll try and write to it otherwise I'll just make a bunch of random ones.

I can't draw though!

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!

There will be a permade GUI, and I want to challenge the students to make their own. However, they'll be the ones to decide to use a premade or not.

I'll discuss this with my computer sience teacher, my lessons are from 2-3 pm (14.00 h-15.00 h).

I'll insert those too, I have a small collection right now. But of course, I'll donwload others as well.

Yes, it will be available on my website. I don't know or I can post the template somewhere without using webspace of my own server. Can anyone help with this?
