Some of you may have heard of a game in development that was doing the rounds 3 or 4 years ago called 'Once Upon a Time in Japan'.

Some of you may also know that the guys behind the project disappeared from the face of the planet about a year ago, including the expiration of their website.  Until that point this was one of my most anticipated titles, but like everyone else following the project, I had assumed it was dead.

But today, for some reason I decided to check the address again... and I couldn't believe my eyes, but http://www.abborado.com is BACK!

QuoteAs of October 30th, 2010, Abborado Studios has relaunched it's official website. While things will remain rough around the edges for a little while, we will be providing updates as "stuff" becomes available. Look for dev blogs, news, some activity in the forums (when they open) and and the latest information on Once Upon a Time in Japan (and maybe some other things) to be posted at fairly irregular intervals!

Spread the word.  It's a promising project and the screenshots look gorgeous.

My only concern is that they're pretty much starting from scratch, which means history is more likely to repeat itself, but I'm ever hopeful that this will be a great game.

To be honest, after reading the "What happened?" post I have less confidence in these guys being able to finish OUATIJ than before their site re-launched.

But if The Silver Lining got to the point it got recently, then anything is possible.

Hey, this is Epic!!=D

I first saw the oh so gorgeous screenies for OUATIJ back in 2007 when I was just starting out at Uni. I even used some of the pics as reference photos for a Japanese-flavoured game design doc of my own;-)

I was pretty devastated when the site vanished, I thought it was gone for good. Inspired, I wanted to turn my design doc into a finished game someday, when my art skills were A LOT better and I had rewritten the awful plot. I still might, but this is great news to see OUATIJ alive again=)

I agree with Ascovel though: I am a little concerned that they're saying they're starting over with new tech. I mean, really, how fast does adventure game tech move on? I really hope this sees the light of day.

I remember seeing this a few years ago, and falling in love with that screenshot.   :D

I really hope they finish this game.   :)
