I have been searching the internet for games within the police genre.  The serious side of it, you know games like Police Quest 1-3, Blue Force, Pleughberg.  Those are the only games I have been able to come up with, and am curious as to if those are the only games that follow that genre, or if there are others out there (possibly AGS games?) that I have missed.  Any help is greatly appreciated...

No, actually. That post is for asking where you can download games you know exist, but can't seem to find a link to. I see you've posted there already, but it's no big deal.

Out of AGS games the only police games I can think of is Larry Vales 1 & 2. If you haven't played them, you should!

I recently made "Abducted: 10 Minutes!!!" which is a police story too.

Check the main AGS page or the completed games forum.

If you're a Sierra fan, here are a couple of police-themed games that you might've missed and possibly enjoy:

Manhunter: New York
Manhunter 2: San Francisco
Codename: Iceman
Laura Bow: The Colonel's Bequest
Laura Bow 2: The Daggor of Amon Ra

Okay, so technically the Laura Bow games aren't exactly police games, but the main character is a detective, and there are some suspense/horror scenes.

The Sherlock Holmes series

- Sherlock Holmes: Another Bow (1985) 148kb
"The first Sherlock Holmes game ever made for PC is a fun interactive fiction title that features an all-new mystery created specifically for the game. The premise is that aging Holmes, now in his 60's, found himself embroiled in a murder mystery abroad the steamship S.S. Destiny." You play as Watson, helping Holmes.

- Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes 1 (a.k.a. Case of the Serrated Scalpel) (1994) 10mb
"Holmes' fans will enjoy untangling both the Jack-the-Ripper-lookalike mystery, and the Diogenes Club bombing in which Holme's brother, Mycroft, is mortally wounded. Despite banal puzzles that hardly merits the attention of the world's foremost detective, the games' well-written plot and faitthful recreation of Holmesian London make the games worthwhile. So come, Watson, the game's afoot!"

- Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes 2 (a.k.a. Case of Rose Tattoo) (1997) 234mb
"Arguably the best games starring the world's most famous fictional detective." Rose Tattoo boasts better puzzles and graphics, and a much longer plot than Case of the Serrated Scalpel.

You said you hadn't played PQ4. That was a good game I thought. I just played it again recently.

Law and Order, CSI, Police Quest 4 (Open Season), PQ Swat 1 (not QUITE adventure, but great, and not strategy, as I *believe* [not sure] that the series became). And Haddas, I think you mixed up the synopsis' - the Diogenes gets blown up on "Rose Tattoo".

I have seen a few old posts on these boards about Police Quest 2 remakes, does anybody have any info on these projects or did they fall into the "I told them I was making a game and then disappeared, so basically I got everybody's hopes up for absolutely nothing" box.  Or any other remakes that may have been mentioned???

I started it, but I only mentioned it a couple of times, so as NOT to get anyone's hopes up. To date, there hasn't been a remake.

Do it the hard way, click the banner on my sig, find the link to the original game in the beginning of the post, or just simply click this: http://www.agsforums.com/games.php?action=detail&id=275

...did you say serious side of it? I think I'm sort of on the edge there... but still, a police themed game.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

Iceman (Sierra) is really fun. I remember there being some copy protection built into it somewhere though, buy the game or find the manual if it's legally available on the internet.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.
