I'm not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, I'm sorry if it has.

Anyone interested in Psychonauts will most certainly want to get a look at this trailer. It's quite long, no gameplay but shows at least one scene from the opening (I'm assuming).

I think you'll have to become a member of Gamespot to get it, but... http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/psychonauts/index.html?q=psychonauts

This trailer has been around for about a year, so I expect most people interested in psychonauts have seen it many times over, but it won't hurt to get more people interested... If you want to see some gameplay you could also watch http://www.gamespot.com/onthespot/index.html this which this week has Tim Shafer (with beard) talking about the game and playing through a bit of it.  (Starts about 20% of the way in)
I'm looking forward to it, we need more good action adventures.

Kinoko

Damnit! I thought I was being all new and current and cool. Oh well.

Not to be nitpicky but... Psychonauts isn't an adventure game. :P

Looks like an adventure to me, it's just not a point and click...

Kinoko

Damn straight. This is about all we can expect from 'adventure game' these days. Above all that, it's freaking Tim Schaffer ^_^

Redwall

In the same way as Mario is adventure, then?

Psychonauts's gameplay is pure platformer.

It's a platformer, sure. But I tend to think of the characters and stories, imaginative settings and puzzles etc when I think of adventure games, adventure games are basically that and little else... and psychonauts has those things as much as any of Tim's other games, it happens to be a platformer as well.

Mario doesn't have many of those things, extremely minimal story, not really any characters, except colourful sprites that don't do much but waddle around... the puzzles are there to some extent, but they're mostly obvious except a few secrets... psychonauts appears to have dialog, and puzzles and nice voice acting and a proper story... and in the gameplay movies I've seen puzzles seem more imaginative than a typical platformer.
Of course thje main reason we have taken this interest in it is because it's made by Tim, who has been involved in most of Lucasarts great adventures in some capacity.  A lot of that seems to have rubbed off... and some more of the team from GF is working on it.
I'd definately put it into the "action adventure" category, that some people despise so much, but I think it has some potential to be good, and a better adventure game than most point and clicks that are released these days.
It could be awful, platformers often are.  Previews seem quite positive so far.

I'm so far much more impressed than I expected to be (even though I don't care much for Raz). From what I can see, it has a lot of similarities to Voodoo Vince - which is a great game, though more platformer and less adventure.

Privateer Puddin'

i'm sure one of the tim schafer nuts will correct / supply a quote,  but i remember tim saying an adventure game to him wasn't about how it's delivered (ie point and click etc) but about the characters, story, feeling of being on an adventure :P etc
