Adventure Game Studio

As a lifelong fan of qfg, I'm thinking about making a remake of it, i have a few questions as to what the majority think of my plans.

1. Should i make a game which is a mixture of all the best parts of Qfg.

2. Should i make 1 long game which brings you from qfq1-4 all in one game.

3. If idea  #2 is used should i use the best gui made from the sieries for all the games?

4.Do You think its a good idea at all to use the assets from the series.

Ps i heard from multiple sources that sierra literally threw the source,images and everything associated into a dumpster then sold the company to activision which never had the source or assets. and that ken williams or anyone affiliated with sierra doesnt even have the source themselves which has caused them to lose all copyright info.

Please give me your facts and opinions..

Yes, the source material is lost, save for some artwork that still floats around out there.  I saw it being sold on Ebay once.

Activision still retains the copyright for Quest For Glory, however.

Yes go for it but if do make 1 long game don't forget QFG 5 ? And will you be doing voices for the characters?

But i wouldn't mind just a remake for QFG 3 because the thief character needed more to do. And have the fighter and Paladin more different.
And maybe even a demake of QFG 5 with more like an adventure rpg mix like the other 4 games and less action.

Definitely make one long game!

You should add lots of extended backstory and additional plot elements--maybe there could be one overarching villain that controls every other villain behind the scenes.  I've always wanted to play a QFG1-5+ remake!  Awesome!

This is the plan so far.

1.Use the gui and characters from qfg3.
2.Make 1 long game out of qfg 1-4.
3.Modify the characters clothing so that Fighter wears the normal green,Wizzard wears white and Thief wears black.

On the maby side of things.
3.Enhance some of the less focused quests, i.e thief quest in 3.
4.Change the name of the game to Grim Quest to avoid copyright issues.
5.Increase the amount of character choises to 3 male and 3 female.
6.A suprise feature that will blow your minds!

Eh...honestly, is it just you working on this?  I'd say work on a simpler game first before jumping into something crazy like 4 games in one or whatever.  Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a reboot or even a brand new game like QFG, but I know first-hand how much effort is required of one person just to handle the art of a single game, and it's dizzying. 

Actually I also attempted a new QFG-style game, but I kind of lapsed into my own personal development-hell trying to come up with something great.  Oh well....anyway, good luck if you actually attempt to make a game.

And please dear god, use original artwork if you do anything and a fresh interface.  Carry on.

It took AGDI years to complete just QFG2. Don't bother doing all four in one. It will never happen. Not unless you had a much much larger team.

Well, for one I'm not using original art, I'm reproducing the qfg series as-is for nostalgia purposes, and i have already made a remake of qfg in another engine...

The hard part is replicating the code but with ags its ntb, the games bg's and chars would be done much faster than the actual quests etc..

So for quite some time you would simply be able to walk around the lands of qfg while i work on the more advanced scripting.

But i know its possible and will probley take me an estimated 4-5 monthes.

The only thing that would prevent me from making this game is if someone had legible evidence that the original makers or activision might come back on me and shut it down.

Btw, while you're at it, why not include Space Quest and Kings Quest? Imagine you could switch to Roger or Graham at any point during the game? That would be so cool!

Also, what's this doing in the CL? This apparently hasn't even reached the planning stage yet.

And when i said misleading me, i didnt mean providing incorrect information, I simply meant you had me replace my local variables with global cariables knowing i did not know how to connect them in the script only to go on my game page afterwards and give it a test run knowing it was incomplete in those ways to make a spectical of the bugs that you caused me to have.

If you want to play games other than ags games then please do it in some other persons topic, and please dont post in any of mine ever again.

Yep, I forced you at gunpoint to rewrite everything while not having the first clue about what you're doing, only to be able to mock you afterwards.
BUT, you're forgetting two important things:
a) the errors I posted (general coding errors) had nothing to do with what I advised you to use structs for (the battle engine).
b) Satan made me do it, so I'm pretty much innocent. In fact, he has possessed me right now, making me write this post. I must watch in horror while he's typing this using my body.
