Hi all,

Again, I ask help. I posted for this game before, BUT: it didn't contain any useful information. To be more precise, this time I have. (And I don't think people will search trough this whole thread to check outdated information... ;))

Brief information:
Title: Omaiya - The Land of 2 Layers
Gametype: RPG
Genre: Fantasy
Resolution: 320x240
Colour Depth: 32-bit
Length: Not decided yet.
Deadline: End 2007

The story:

On a far-off island, surrounded by a thick mist, lives a society which has never established contact with the world surrounding it. On that particular island, the society lives on it's own strength. For a long time, wars where never serious, the people lived together and nobody was misjudged. Until these people began building the biggest and mightiest city of the whole island.
The richest people began to develop the idea that they where better. After all, they did design the city, gave the poor the material and knowledge to help and offered residence for free. They decideed to build their own houses and important buildings above those of the poor, so the rich would stand literally above them. The poor agreed, not knowing the consequences. To make even more difference, the rich gave themselves the name Upper Layer, and the poor became the Lower Layer.
In the Silver Age the poor began to realize their position. They became hungry, because the rich began to sap every coin and every nutricion out of them. They began to start-up a revolution in secret. So far, no public battles where fought, but it won't be long until the war would be declared.

Main characters:

Utada: (player, name can be customized)
Age: 19
Gender: Female
She is a mysterious woman who was found in the sea. She only remembered her name. After meeting Daisuke, who saved her, they hear about a resistance-force of the Lower Layer. They decide to join the resistance together.

Daisuke: (party member)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
A young man who found Utada. He took care for her when she was still unconsious. After Utada awoke, they joined the resistance-force together.

Mimiko: (party member)
Age: 21
Gender: Female
A commander in the resistance army. She was assigned to train Utada and Daisuke in fighting, so they could join the army.

Suzumi:
Age: 17
Gender: Female
She was a friend of Daisuke's youth. Daisuke often thinks of her. He fears Suzumi was murdered or arrested after the Upper Layer army found her and took her away from the village where she and Daisuke spent a happy summer. After she was taken away, her whereabouts where and are unknown.

Akira:
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Akira is the leader of the resistance. He isn't seen very often, but every poor man or woman knows his name.

What jobs are available:
Musicians: I can't imagine an RPG without music. I prefer mp3 above midi, but I don't say no against both.
Background artists: I just can't make perspective backgrounds. So I need artists to get me some backgrounds for battles (and cutscenes, if I decide to make some).
Animators: to make some animations for my characters. I have a bit of a problem doing e.g. attacks. You don't need to make every single animation, though.

That's all I can think of right now. If you're interested in taking any of these jobs, PM me, or e-mail to: yurina.x.mireille AT gmail DOT com.

Thanks in advance,
~Yurina
Yuna: Give me a Y!
Rikku: Give me an R!
Paine: Give me a break...

Aya, everyone needs musicians or animators, why not throw my needs in the pot too?

-----------------------------------------------

I just need an animator/sprite artist.Ã,  Being able to make neat tiles is a plus, but not nessesary.

I'm making a platform/shooter with AGS, and I'm horrid at any type of computer art.Ã,  Each character in the game needs 12 frames.

-3 frames walking with gun pointed straight ahead (one standing, two with leg movement, ordered 'standing'/'move1'/'standing'/'move2')
-3 frames walking with gun pointed 45 degrees up
-3 frames walking with gun pointed 45 degrees down
-3 frames with legs pulled up for jumping, each portraying a different gun position

Should you take interest in the job, know that if you can only provide a template of 12 sprites, that is fine.Ã,  And if you can do work for each character needed, that is fine also.Ã,  Either way, if you're interested, PM me.

Okay okay, I stand corrected.Ã,  The project is going better than I expected, and I think the art should compliment that, so I'm asking for something a bit more now.Ã,  The game is a platform-shooter, the engine works nicely and improves every day, but the graphics are holding me back, I suck at them.Ã,  I need a real artist if this is going to go any farther.
The sprites will mostly be very low res, between 20/40 pixels in height/width.Ã,  It will include but not be limited to bipedal soldiers, but crawling and flying ones as well.Ã,  (I hope).Ã,  If you're interested, PM me, but be warned, it will be a while between each character needed, as I'm still working on the story as well as tweaking the engine.
Anyway, think about it if you consider yourself at compatent at spriting.  I assure you, you're better than me ^_^'

-Regards, Akumayo

Hi!
Desperately needing a character artist and musician.
I've tried really hard to do these things by myself but it only ever results in despair! :(
You will be working on a Wild West style game with , sheriffs and bandits and the like.
I currently have no characters for the game and no music, these are the only things that I am lacking in at the minute so I really need someone to offer me their services. Any help is much appreciated. :D
If you are interested please PM me or e-mail me at andy_lad05@hotmail.com :)
The best advice I can give you is to always listen to the advice that people give you.

The Hero

#267
Hi all, I have a game in the making. The plot's almost done and music is on the go; however I need a background artist and sprite artist to help make it a reality. Let's see: I'm hoping for Gabriel Knight 1/Police Quest 3 style VGA art, but at this point I'm not to picky

Plot: The main character is a young police detective with the Tokyo police. One day he is told to investage a drug related murder but upon doing so he uncovers information that leads him to believe that the police department, and perhaps the government itself, is involved in a huge drug ring all throughout Asia. As he gets closer to the truth however, he comes home one evening to find his house in ruins and his family missing. A note is left that says: "If you ever want to see your family again, stop your investigation or you will never see your family again. Their blood will be on your hands. They will die a slow painful death. You have 36 hours!"

So if anyone wants to help make this game possible, please  PM me.

Thank you
I will wait for you in heaven

I am looking to recruit a team to create a horror mystery game, whose story I have conceived already:

Title: Hallow's End

'Michael Sandon, griefstricken after the death of his wife and daughter in a car crash, is told to take a break. He hopes a short holiday in the town of Hallow's End will ease his pain and his constant insomnia. Yet, Hallow's End hides a disturbing secret. As Mike uncovers the horrifying truth of Hallow's End, he finds himself pursued by the Laughing Boy, a murderous and twisted creature intent on finding him and exacting eternal agony and pain on his body and soul. Mike meets Katherine Keider, also newly arrived, similarly traumatised by the suicide of her husband several months ago but pregnant with a child...of whom the father is unknown. They soon find themselves lost in a world of torment, a world where your nightmares become reality, where your soul is tortured beyond pain and where the innocent are punished forever.

Everyone goes to Hallow's End eventually.'

What I am doing:

*Concept
*Story Design
*Dialogue

I am looking for:

*SFX designer

Positions filled:

*Music Composer: eyeCoof
*Scripter: Akumayo
*Background Artists/Character Designer/ Animators: Lisa & Len Haasbroek, Candles

The game is to be done in a Lucasarts-Golden Age style, point and click.

If anyone's interested - or feels they can assist in ANY other capacity - please email me on markodell30@hotmail.com - This is a horror project I am EXTREMELY keen to launch. I am now in need of some very important staff members I want to see this through to completion, and then hopefully work on some more games.

:: Project

- a political adventure game [in the interface style of sierra & lucas arts titles].

- In this game the player will control george bush and also an activist that wants to save the earth in various ways, by battling starvation, helping the poor etc etc. The player will control one character at a time, and will get to control the other one in the next chapter. What bush does will affect the storyline for the activist and vice verse, i.e. Bush decides to bomb a country in one chapter. In the next we will see our activist dogging bombs and trying to build a shelter.

The game will be ironic and will make fun of both the president and the activist, but in the end it will _not_ make the president look like a nice guy - this isn't conservative propaganda - on the contrary it's supposed to get the people that play it to think and react. If this doesn't suit you, well - welcome to democracy and the land of the free ;)

- you'll only have to draw 2 small scenarios and one character in color and then let me prove that I'm worthy your magic by creating a part of the game with that graphic. If you're happy with the result, you can choose to continue the co-work with me.

- will maybe generate some small amounts of cash once we've finished it, however earning isn't the main point.

- irl will have priority over it and we both work when we can - no deadlines, but still a serious will to finish it, some progress every now and then and continuos communication.

- final game will be available in English, Swedish and maybe other languages.

:: You

- can illustrate without in a style you choose yourself

- either do your thing directly on the computer in whatever software _or_

- get it digitalized

- will, except for the graphics, get to influence and be an equal part of the project in other ways if you wish

:: Me

- University, Sweden, 26 years and plenty of experience when it comes to working with different projects

- Will write the story (with your help if you chooe to) and do the geeky stuff so that becomes a game and all. Also, there story is in many senses already done but could be revised to fit your needs.

:: Misc.

I'm afraid I can't give away more details on the game, concept, script etc since I wouldn't want to get ripped off. Everybody who's interested in applying can contact med at spam(at)eyerouge.com - I also use MSN -> subcodes@hotmail.com

Write a short intro of yourself, experience (if any, isn't a must), what tools you use etc and don't forget to include a direct link to some of your works. I'll then contact those of you who I think are suited and ask you if you'd be willing to do the two sample rooms and the character.

Any questions? Feel free to ask them here or via e-mail.

Sadistyk

Hello everyone! I'm in the search for a script. I want to make a 2D isomeric RPG, settled in a fantasy world such as Diablo or Arcanum, but with elements of classical point and click adventure, i.e., an adventure game in a 640x480 resolution with 2D isometric graphics, with the addition that you can kill some beasts in a very RPG way. The mayor problem is that I'm not a very good story-writer, and (according to me) a bad script make a bad game. To demostrate you that I'm serious, here's a compiled demo of the GUIs of the game that I've made a few days ago. One it's not finished (the status GUI) because I'm seeing the best way to do it. Feel free to try it.

Note: I suggest you to read the Help file to understand the interface, because it's not a common one.

Okay guys, this is the project leader of Hallow's End (horror-adventure game mentioned a few posts previously) here - I have a full storyline plotted out, I have conceptual image ideas, I have a scripter, I have a composer...If you are a background artist or a Character animator/artist or anyone else who feels they can assist in the art department then I will happily send you the design document. Please give me a hand here, I am desperate to get this project off the ground :)

I would post the total synopsis here, but it's nearly 5 sides and I might get yelled at for posting the whole thing :) So instead I shall post what I consider as 'Act I'

ACT 1 of HALLOW'S END

Mike Sandon arrives in Hallow's End, and goes to a local bar. Once there he discovers that his brother has been missing for a number of days, which seems extremely odd to him considering his brother called him only the day before to tell him to come and stay with him. Those at the local bar seem evasive about his questions at best, but he soon calls a taxi to take him to his brother's house. Waiting for it, he sees a figure disappear into the shadows that looks like his dead daughter. Losing sight of the figure, Mike finds himself lost. The fog clears slightly, and he finds himself standing in front of a fence, with words painted in blood ‘WELCOME HOME MICHAEL'. Then, he wakes up in the spare room in his brother's house. It was all just a very bad dream. A laugh startles him. Going out to investigate, he finds bloody trails leading all the way down to the basement. After successfully unlocking the door, he is also able to turn on the lights.
He sees the corpse of his brother, speared to the ground with a pike. Horrified, Mike goes to investigate. As he goes to do so, the tall, mutilated and scarred form of the Laughing Boy appears as if from nowhere. Mike runs back to the basement door, but finds the door has jammed. The creature is rapidly approaching him, and laughing. As it gets close, Mike jams the poker into its chest. It temporarily topples over, but it doesn't seem to have done a mssive amount of damage since the creature is starting to stand up again and pulling out the poker â€" when the door flies open and Mike is yanked through by someone, and he loses consciousness.
He wakes up again, in the living room, in the company of a woman, Katherine Keider. Kate explains that she also came to visit the town, after the suicide of her husband and a miscarriage, and had been told Jon Sandon was a local psychiatrist, and despite it being the middle of the night wanted to rest her mind easy. Finding the door open, she heard a scream from the basement. Mike explains what it was he saw, and asks if she knew. Kate says she doesn't, but that she's been seeing strange things around the town â€" an apparition of her dead husband in the local library. Mike decides to go and visit the library, telling Kate to stay at home. She refuses, demanding to follow him. He has no choice but to let her follow; soon, they are at the local library. It is closed and locked up at that time of night. Kate agrees to wait outside until Mike returns. Mike manages to break in through a first floor window, and finds himself among the stacks. Immediately ahead of him is a trail of pages, leading towards a book. Mike reads the pages. They are the foundation story of Hallow's End by Joseph Teller in the mid 18th century (Possible flashback cutscene?) and how enigmatically ‘the town has always been the last place people go.' The official history also points out how Teller was a troubled man, and in his later days was tormented, and who drove himself to the very edge of his anguish â€" before killing himself by throwing himself off a cliff. Teller's tone seems regretful, as if there was something in his life he should not have done. Mike opts to search for both the reading room, where Kate saw the ghost, and also the journal of J. Teller. The reading room is locked, predictably. Teller's journal is a very old document, but the book is inside a cabinet, that Mike cannot reach far enough inside to read. He opts not to smash the glass. He searches the office, and sees a map of the place. Mike finds the canteen for the library staff, and a brief search of the kitchen reveals tools he can use to turn the pages. Mike reads the journal. Teller reveals how he was tormented by ‘that laugh, which haunted my nightmares and plagued my very existence'....

TO BE CONTINUED...

PLEASE let me know if you want to help on this project on markodell30@hotmail.com

Well, I just wanted to let you know that I need BG artists who could draw in Sierra style. If someone can do this, I'll be very eager to read your PM's.

Hello!
I am looking for any information on voice actors for my game www.indylc2.com ! Are you a good voice actor? Or do you know someone that can voice act? Send a mail to contact@indylc2.com and I will send you a line that you should record for test aswell as a list of possible characters.

BunnyMilk

I'm not usually one to post in topics like this but I have only a very small request so if somebody could contact me in PM about it or catch me on IRC that would be amazing thanks.

I'm working on a very short game to pass the time over my holidays, I can handle scripting, music, backgrounds and all writing, puzzle making and everything myself it's just the one thing I can't do is sprites and walkcylces. There is only one character in the game and I can probably do any sprite edits and poses myself but the basic logics of sprites and cycles just passes right over me. So if anyone can just make this one sprite and cycle for me that would be absolutely amazing thank you.

The sprite is a Janitor. The game is set in a "Beneath a Steel Sky-esque" future and the main character is the maintenance man in a government building during a terrorist attack. So really a Janitor/Maintenance Man sprite would be amazing thank you if anyone can do this please PM me or get in touch through IRC.

Thanks
Love x

VSB is looking for voice actors to audition for several parts.

You must be able to submit good-quality recordings.

Parts we are currently looking for include Roger, Bea, Roger Jr., two Sequel Police, Vohaul, and some new characters.Ã,  We already have a narrator, sorry.

With the already-seen characters, we'd like people who are not necessarily the same pitch, but who can at least deliver in a similar manner as the established characters.

Other characters required (all male) include:

  • a few (~3) laidback characters, plus another 2 who are featured more prominently in the storyline and are even more laidback.
  • one who is more authoritative
  • another who is soft-spoken yet arrogant
  • another who is a variation of Marvin the Paranoid Android from HGttGÃ,  (yet more rusty) or Strong Sad from H*R
  • a teenager
  • short, fuzzy creatures resembling Ewoks:

    • a leader of a resistance cell
    • an out-of-power official with delusions of grandeur
    • two friends, extremely active/athletic
    • bartender, with raspy voice
    • an old priest
    • two sneaky thief-type characters
    • a drunk
    • an openly arrogant character who is easily scared
  • a literally faceless doctor with a bit of a dry sense of humor and who is somewhat unbelieving
  • a nervous lawyer
  • a guard who has to try to keep people from entering a secure area, but who also brought:
  • the guard's son, easily bored, asks a lot of questions if not preoccupied
  • a redneck hypochondric, scared of the doctor (mentioned above)
  • a busy official who doesn't like to be bothered
Auditions may be e-mailed to me (pcj@sqvsb.com) or posted at the VSB forum.Ã,  Questions or comments may be e-mailed to me.

That's all the characters we need to have for now; we'll have more to audition for later.
Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back is now available to download!

The freeware project codenamed The Revival Of MI is in need of:

- a character concept artist, capable of drawing CMI-type characters (want an example? see here). We don't want rip-offs of CMI, though, so if your style is a little different, and the characters look nothing like the CMI versions, in a similar style only, that's not a problem! Actually, that's encouraged!

- a general animation artist (making stuff like explosions, ripples on ocean waves, wriggling worms, ... in the CMI style)

- a character animation artist, willing to make all those CMI type characters the concept artist makes into walk/talk/scratching-your-nose/putting-a-monkey-in-yer-pants - cycles.

Send me a sample of your work when you apply. I won't have anyone enter our developer forum and other facilities without proof of capabilities.

Details about the game:

This is a monkey island - inspired game, if you haven't guessed it already. We try to capture the MI1/MI2 Ron Gilbert essence using beautiful CMI-type graphics. I am not at liberty to reveal any details of the plot to non-developers, though. It has to be a surprise.

We plan to release the intro movie and part 1 once they're finished to see if we succeeded at creating the right kind of game. How we'll go from there will depend on the feedback we get from the community.

If you want to follow our progress, look here (oh, and ignore the Guybrush image, we won't use that one)

With luck, we can revive those monkey island adventures together!
(and show LucasArts the Monkey Island fancommunity ain't dead!)

Hi all. I'm Antonio Limpo and I am starting a team for developing a game. My "company" is called "Limpo Arts". I want to make a classic point 'n' click adventure, where one of it's main features it's the hand drawn artwork.

Check some work I've done in the past to get the idea.

As I want to focus mainly in the hand drawn artwork and story, I need:

- 2D designers to back me up(mainly coloring work in GIMP, following indications and also doing some animations based on my - and yours - drawings)
- Someone to do the music (influences from Lucas Arts games, circus music, and so on)
- In the future, voice-acting

Mainly I need people with creativity and talent! Of course we'll do the game for no $ in return, but once It's done It can easily be distributed on gaming magazines(at least here in Portugal, where 4 to 5 magazines accept indie games). Who knows what the future will bring us!

Attention Creative Writers,

We are a team that is committed to bringing new life to the classic game, “Colonel's Bequest”, while still preserving all of the elements we have come to love about the game. The problem is we are still in the early stages of getting a team together, so we need your help. Right now we are trying to get a solid story and some unique gameplay in place before we get too deep into the scripting and artwork aspects of the production.

We have taken all the critiques of the original “Colonel's Bequest” that we could find, and are looking to fix the problems the critics had, while bringing fresh new ideas to the game. We hope to make it much more interactive, and less like eavesdropping on a story you can't effect. So, listed below are job titles we are looking for right now. (Laura Bow and/or murder mystery fans are preferred, but not required.)

-Primarily, we need a team of writers that will work on helping to shape the story, develop the characters, and create the gameplay. (1920's history buff's a plus!)
-Dialog writers. (Knowledge of 1920's-style dialog would be valuable!)
-Puzzle creators. People who are interested in creating puzzles that we can include in the game, that work well alongside the story and setting.
-Sprite Artists. (People that can make the character animations. Like walking graphics, animating profile pictures to talk. Things like that.)
-Even fans of the series that just want to voice their ideas on improving the game are welcome. Because this is truly a game for the fans!

Interested candidates wouldn't have to commit to just one job title. If you wanted to cross-over and help out some with any of the jobs, that would be extremely beneficial to the team. So, if this sounds like something that might interest you, drop me an email at Dump401@yahoo.com, and give a brief description of yourself and what you'd be interested in assisting us with. We are a really laid back team that all have busy schedules, so it would be a “contribute what you can, when you can” sort of atmosphere, where everyone's voice matters.

Also, if you would be interested in contributing in something I haven't listed (programming, artwork, music…) feel free to also drop me a line. We won't be looking for help in those areas for a little while, but if you want to be considered for the job when the time comes, please contact me.

Thanks for your time, and we hope to hear from you!
