There is a sprite/animation competition on the Reality on the Norm forum that may be interesting to AGSers.
Have a look here:
http://ron.the-underdogs.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9=683
The basic idea is to create a walk-cycle or idle animation (or both!) for a pre-existing RON character. Entries are due on July 13th.

Shoot. Looking over (belatedly) Pumaman's charter, I think this post is in violation of the rules. COuld a moderater please move the original post to general discussion or whatever and then delete this post?
thanks (sorry), bitby
Bitby, you don't have to double-post, you can modify your posts..
Hmmm. According to the rules of the Activities and Competition Forum, only approved activities organised by the AGS Community are allowed.
RON has close relation with AGS though. But rules are rules, so I'll move this thread.
For some reason I'm unable to view the RON forums when I'm logged in but I figured I should donate some effort to the cause.
I present:
Punk Allen Remixed:

I'll be happy to do some additional animations for him if needed (this includes now or in the future).
I have a bunch of backgrounds I did a few years ago if anyone's interested. Guess that doesn't really fit here though.
If they fit to RON, sure!
At the moment the RON community hasn't many good active graphical artists, well, except for Krysis there isn't anyone!
Those sprites of Punk Allen look awesome, as usual with your stuff! ;)
Aight. No internet connection at home, but I'll post them when I can.
I think it would be nice to have some pro-looking backgrounds for people to choose from with RON so please do. I might actually someday make a RON game...who knows?
New art, be it updated backgrounds, character sprites or what-have-you, is always welcome.
Ok, this should be the bulk of it. I made these three years ago, so I have no desire to edit them. My pixel art and composition skills were weaker then, so you'll probably notice some rendering inconsistencies, flaws, and general visual confusion. Although there isn't much in the way of palette unification, they don't use more than a hundred colors each, so the backgrounds would be compatible with the 8-bit settings in AGS.

In case anyone's curious, here's a super rough draft of the design document I started for the project.

Super. Rough.
You can take your rough, non-palette-unified three year old graphics and stuff them. Into a background pack for RotN.
Wow, those look amazing, at least 10.000 times better than your average RON background!! :D
Too bad they have such a unique and unmixable style or I would use them for my project!!
With ProgZ's sprites and BB's backgrounds, RON is all of a sudden one of the best looking things out there! :)
Nice works!
We should get in touch with Mr. Frisby. He was working on the sprites for this old project, and he had a lot of them done. Maybe he'd be interested in posting them here.
