Most of it would be really hard in ags, best using an RPG engine.

AGS doesn't have a tile engine to start with.

Actually, I'd say that AGS would have all the tools necessary to do an RPG game. With a bit of careful planning it'd be pretty easy to achive.

Well I dont want to screw around with RPG maker, no. And thats the only one I know. And I dont want to make them to be like Final Fantasy. More like Ultimas, 4-6 or 7-8.

If you could wait for about a year or so, you should get Exult Studio. If you're a fan of Ultima you would probably have Exult on your computer already to run Ultima 7.

The guys are now working on the Exult Studio which allows you to edit the games, and also create new ones from scratch. I haven't been able to try it, because I downloaded a beta of the studio and it doesn't work on my computer.

It would be fairly easy to do a Baldur's Gate-style RPG in AGS. At one point I was musing over the prospect of shipping some graphics over to give it a shot. I may still give it a shot.

If you want a SNES-style one, may I personally recommend VERGE ( www.verge-net.com (http://www.verge-net.com) ). It's a little hard to work out what exactly to do at first but you'll soon settle in, plus the scripting language is fairly similar to AGS's.
