Has anyone played the pretty new adventure Runaway. It was pretty cool but short.

I do own runaway after an impulse buy and I have to say that it was pretty dissapointing. I felt that, although the backgrounds did look unique and very vivid in terms of items and things to see and interact with, I felt let down by poor character animation, very deformed character models, and most of all a very terrible dialogue. As well the storyline seemed very linear, there were questions and mystery involved, but also it had a lot of jumping locations with no real reason as to why you were going there. It was par for me in terms of adventure games, and in the world of adventure games today, it was worth playing...but it didn't leave too much of a lasting impression..and definatly not worth the money I paid for it.

It's something like 4 years old iirc, but that's new for a p&c adventure I suppose.  I wasn't dissapointed because I wasn't expecting much, it gets better toward the end but as a whole it's not very good.  The puzzles are the worst part, especially the parts where there are a couple of quite obvious solutions to the puzzle nearby which don't even get a response when you try them.  Also the way the main character has to explain everything he does before he does it, something like *Click fridge door* "You know I think I'll open this door because that item I am looking for might be inside." *Open door animation* "Oh look, this butter was inside, I will pick it up and put it in my inventory!" *Pick up animation, switches to inventory view* "This could come in handy for greasing something up!" *Item appears in inventory*, it's like that every time you click the mouse, I swear.  Drove me insane.

You have to remember, scotch...we United Statesians, don't actually get games till a couple years after their first release date. Runaway came here about a year or more ago. I never played it, though, because I heard of a few pixel hunting puzzles.

I've had Runaway for almost 2 years now. Personally, I kinda like the game. It really reminds me of the first 2 broken sword games when it comes to graphics. My only gripe with the game is that there are many glithes in it, and the translation process wasn't fully completed (code wise) on the english release.
