Hi folks,
I was wondering if there is a site that people can download saved games for adventure games?
I am looking for saved games for the DOS version of Martian Memorandum (Tex Murphy mystery).
Gee. To my knowledge most commercial games have a teleport cheat or something like that, perhaps that would help? Otherwise I wouldn't know.
I have 66 savegame files for Martian Memorandum, covering - I think - all the game. PM me if you want me to email them to you, it's a 6KB rar file. If the game indexes them alphabetically you may be in trouble though, as the file names aren't very explanatory.
Edit: For future reference, Ghostlady's website Mystery Manor (http://mysterymanor.net/attic.php) has adventure game savegames for download, but unfortunately not MM.
I'm surprised there isn't some kind of save game mega-site. I could do with some Emporers Tomb saves :p
There's vgmuseum.com where you can at least look over the endings if you really want?
Does anybody have saved games for Sierra's Conquest of the Longbow, either for the DOS version or the AMIGA version?

Hmm. Maybe a site like this needs to be made.
Would a site like this have a demand here? If so, I'll gladly work on it immediately. I'm between web design projects and need something to do before I get my next one.

Sounds like a great idea! ;D
Finally! A site idea that hasn't been done yet! ;D
Okay, so here's the plan. It'll feature a searchable database of adventure games (which feature save-game files of course), but there has to be some structure for each game for organizing it. Perhaps each game could be divided into its own sections.
For example, Space Quest IV would be divided into sections like "Space Quest XII: Vohaul's Revenge II", etc.
I think the best environment for this would be a wiki. What do you guys think? It's easy to set up, allows users to upload their own hints, and sections are as easy as formatting the text and putting links in their right places.
What do you think?
I think that I'd rather use a walkthrough and see the game story progress than skip a whole section, myself. Kind of misses the point of playing the game, to skip it.
i'm pretty sure that megagames used to have a savegame section, but it's not there anymore.
a quick google search shows a few sites with savegame sections but there doesn't seem to be any sites created specifically for them.
and i'd be happier using a walkthrough too, unless i had already played the game some of the way through and just wanted to continue from where i left off.
Game Saves are also good for if you have a buggy version of a game (Quest for Glory IV anybody?) or if you're just playing for nostalgia, and/or you want to show a buddy a funny part of a game.
There are many uses for game-saves. :)
So a wiki it is then, yes?

If I didn't delete them, I should have a ton of saves for that game (DOS version) from the Adventure Gamers Community Playthrough (http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php5735). Multiple saves from every chapter, both an optimal path and a "most miserable" path. What are you looking for?

The optimal path. :D
I remember having to use a savegame for Beneath a Steel Sky as the game got some fatal error near the beginning (I still cringe at "BE VIGILANT, CITIZEN").
Since topic of Conquest of Longbow came up, it reminded me that I'd also like to request a savegame.
Spoiler
My game exitted with some error after I save marian from the monk in the forest.
A savegame as close as possible to after that event would be most appreciated.
Would "saved-game.com" be a good domain name? Any other suggestions?
Sounds good to me. 8)
Which would you prefer: www.saved-game.com or www.savedgame.net ?
One has the undesirable hyphen, and the other has the less-common .net top-level domain.
Oh, and here's a preview: http://www.xylot.net/gamesaves (go to "All Games" and SQ4 is the only game up so far, as a test)
Due to he bug in GFG4 I didn't finish the game... The only one I didn't finish :( & the one I enjoyed the most.
I have to agree though that I would rather, just have the walk through to see the game progress.
why not "savegame" or the like, TerranRich? After all, that's what I thought they were called.
I can easily change it to "SaveGame". I was confused as to whether they were called "Saved Games" or "Game Saves" or "Save Games". I haven't registered the domain yet, so it's still open.
Should I include walkthroughs in this site as well? It's really open, as it's a wiki. I can put anything there, really.
I was even toying with the idea of altering the MediaWiki code to include a UHS-style hints system, although it already exists.
I dunno...should I even bother with this site?
EDIT:
Or...what if I convert it completely into a wiki-walkthrough site, where people can put up their own walkthroughs (one per game) and edit others, etc.? What do you guys think?
EDIT EDIT:
LGM had an interesting idea. Turn it into a completely wiki-walkthrough site, with savegames scattered throughout as needed, in the form of a file link, which would be easily recognized. What do you guys think?
I suppose savegames for multiple endings, points when the game branches, and places just after some very hard (or random) puzzle would be useful.
I'm curious, though. How will your site be different from UHS (or your average walkthrough site)?
Are there many wiki-style walkthrough sites that can be edited by any registered user? I haven't seen many - normally you can submit edits, or new walkthroughs. Most sites have more than one walkthrough, making it difficult to determine which one to use. And the wiki walkthrough/hint sites I've seen are dedicate to certain series (such as the SQ7 Omnipedia). This would be dedicated to any and all adventure games...and possibly other genres of games in the future.
Any other ideas to make this unique?
Is the wiki-walkthru + save-game site idea a good one?
EDIT:
And, if so, how would www.gamewalk.net sound? Any other domain ideas?
