It's just a matter of getting enough funds for the right venue, and sadly I'm not one to compromise a decent venue just to make the event happen. I hate hotel lobbies - that is in my mind the tackiest place you could hold a convention.

The ticket reservation numbers, though good, would never have covered the venues I wanted. I could've upped the ticket price to 40 quid but no-ones ever going to pay that and go. So I have been waiting for an answer from the Kickstarter team who are "more than eager to hear from you" or at least was the impression they gave, but I sent that email a good 10 days ago and not a word from their team.

So, unfortunately, because this has been on the plate since January this year and now it's almost the end of the year and it hasn't had much success financially, I can't be arsed to spend every waking hour worrying about it right now. I need to get laid! Get a car...stuff like that, and then make this happen at a later date when the time is right

Sorry to dissapoint. I'm going to set up a team early next year to try & make this happen again, but even with several people spreading the load - it's still  always going to be down to money - something I'll never be able to cover myself, and something Kickstarter has not done for me yet which was the final straw in my "can I be arsed to organise this today?" list.

This event really will happen through random things just working out one by one, slowly but surely to the point where it can happen right away. But whenever that is there will still be big names to attend. And I don't think anyone would 'drop out' just because it cannot happen in January - it just means the event loses some 'exclusives' depending on exhibitors & release dates, but that's always going to be a problem - but ultimately make it more interesting

ah, shame, I would've been really interested in coming, especially with the Broken Sword guy there. Although, I guess this would be 18+ anyway (Bar)

 Wish you would have set up a donation bank or something for this I would have given atleast $100 to help make it happen. This would have so much potential to become a moment of renaissance for a near-extinct genre if it was organized in a good venue, had all the notable guests doing speeches/debating, had good advertisement for a hopefully huge turnout. I'll make you a promise Mods: i am going to start playing the lottery. And if I win I will hook you up with 1 million dollars to organize this

Edit: Also, I wouldnt realistically expect that you would be able to get all the big names to show up in person in London no matter how many resources you had. But these days with neat inventions like Skype you could probably easily secure a live public webcam interview with people like Ron Gilbert which would, to me, be just as good as the real thing.

What happened with that place in Battersea?
I thought were down for letting us use it for free?
Even if it's not as big an event as initially envisioned we should still be able to do something, that can be expanded on in years to come... If Boakes and others have said they are down for it then it would be a shame to let the opportunity pass... Even if we just met them in a pub's function room for an afternoon.

True, it could be scaled down quite massively and would probably still feature Boakes and Cecil.

The problem with the Battersea place is it's the first venue I found, and can't remember which one it is now. Also the fact that Outlook emails get lost all the time along the way. The correspondance for that place is on my mates laptop which is probably dead, but yeah, I'll try hunt it down again. But you're right, if it's smaller, we could just meet in a pub like Ronfest. Hmmm...
