Hey guys it's been a great run. However due to tax reasons SOCKO! Entertainment will be closing its doors at the end of the 2003 year. I've lowered the price of the game to $9.99 and you still get the free shipping. However, after the 2003 year is up I will no longer be accepting orders and The Adventures of Fatman will be announced as abandonware. I have no plans to host the game or support its move into abandonware.
Thanks again everyone who helped etc ... and don't think this is the last time you'll see me because the heart of a true adventure gamer beats within me.
So as CJ would say ... cheers.
As I said in the Completed Games forum, I'm sorry to see SOCKO! go. I'm glad to have purchased my copy of Fatman, though, and I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors. :)
Hmm... That's sad. How bad. Maybe someone hosts it so I may play it.
Man... thats bad. But at least you arn't preventing the game from going to abandonware tho. I still wish i had bought it, but I got no money, and no credit card.
I'm sure the underdogs will host it within 3 hours of it being declared abandoned.
I'm curious what you mean by "tax reasons", Ionias :p It's a great shame that you're closing the doors, if there's anything you need (like your money back) please let me know. If you want someone else to distribute Fatman for you then get in touch - I really think you should reconsider letting the game go abandonware.
Nevertheless, I hope the time comes around again when you'll make more games, another commercial game and start up a huge ass company!
:)

Aw, that's a shame, I really wanted to buy it to get the cd version, but like others, I have no credit card (I do have money though :P). Maybe you could, like m0ds suggested, allow it to be bought still, distributed somewhere else.
Good luck to you in the future Ionas :)
Good luck in whatever you choose to do next!
I'm sorry to hear that, Ionias! I wasn't able to buy Fatman like some other AGSers because I don't have a credit card... :(
Whatever you do, Ionias... DON'T FORGET ME!!! :-*
Nevermind :P
It's okay, I don't think he's leaving :P
I hope that the game will be for free when the company closes down because I really, really want to play that game and I don't have a paycard or creditcard or what-so-ever. Besides, I don't think that you should sell AGS-games, it doesn't feel right somehow. The only reason I would sell my games is when I need money fast and I don't have to. And also, not being able of playing the game without having a creditcard is discriminiation according to my opinion. Go ahead! Call me a cheapsake but I have a economy to follow and I'm living alone in my own apartment, still unemployeed.
Sorry to hear that Ionias.
You have of course earned your place in history as the first person to go commercial with an AGS game, and I think that deserves some credit :)
Pretty much any bankcard will do just as fine Mats, it doesn't have to be a credit card. Flip your bankcard around and look for a Visa logo.
It's nice to hear you earned your expenses back Ionias. Is that taken into account the amount of money spent making the game?

The amount of money spent making the game would BE the expenses ;)
Plus the distributing.
Well, I finally got around to buying it. I'm actaully bummed that you lowered the price, cause I feel like I'm cheating ya...So, your quiting the whole game biz, if I remember right you said you bought a shrink wrap machine and some other stuff and wanted to distribute games for other game authors...
It would be a shame if that never happened....
Bummer d00d

True, although I would assume those expenses are more per-copy and are made back as each game is ordered.
Well, i'll just paste what i said on the Completed games forum, cause i think you need more feedback, and to repeat that i think that you did make a difference, and you will be a row-model to generations next to come (or something like that).
QuoteYeah, I too am sorry to hear that your attempt of breaking through from a amateur community to a commercial one didn't fully work, so I think you should have the Breaking-througher Pioneer award.
And yes I really mean that, and so do others i think.
But as you said:

I'm baffled. :(
And curious too. About the tax thing.

He said somewhere else (in another thread or something) that he's too lazy to fill in all the forms related to keeping his business tax-legal...
Aw, that shucks.
I'm at least glad to have bought it!
Good luck whatever you will be doing next.
Hmmm.. Does that mean that new adventure game you were working on aren't coming out?
I thought I had forever to buy it.. Damn. Buying my copy now.
