Title: Team Effigy's Out of Time development diary
Post by: auriond on Fri 15/01/2010 01:49:13
Although the next game we're working on will not be made with AGS, and in fact is still only in pre-production, we've started keeping a game development diary to document and discuss some of the issues in game-making. I thought that some of articles might be useful for the members here.

The Mind Map - Telling a story (http://www.teameffigy.com/?p=22)
This article explores the use of mind maps in creating and keeping track of a story and characters. It offers a few useful mind-mapping programs as well.

Episodic games (http://www.teameffigy.com/?p=48)
We got some feedback saying that gamers generally don't like episodic games. In response, my friend Khyle wrote a long article discussing some well-known examples of episodic games, with a close look at what made some of them tick and the others flop, and why our next game is episodic.

As I finalise the design for the main character, I'm thinking of writing an article on character design next. If Khyle doesn't beat me to it by continuing her discussion of mind-mapping first.

Very VERY cool!

I love the whole 'sharing' with the audience idea. Vince XII has also been doing that. I'm still uncertain if it's good from a marketing point of view, but it certainly is great to share your knowledge and experience. I also try to do that in music, but fail short usually with my own ambitions...

So excellent job!
