Well, my computer is totally screwed for a while until I get it fixed. Luckily though, I finished putting together the newest ezine to hit the streets... um, I mean net.
http://www.tdrdesign.net/downloads/tmrissue1.zip
The file is in .pdf form and is 700kb in download size. The mag was put together by Hotspot, so any congratulations should go to him, as I've only done the formatting/layout thingy. Kudos to everyone who wrote stuff for it, and definately VeryWeirdGuy who wrote out a great walkcycle tutorial.
Anyway, until next month... Keep Rogering...
Looks pretty good!Ã, Another source of AGS related information!
I can't get enough!
Are you guys planning an online version?Ã, I, unfortunately, don't have the time :(Ã, But, like Vel's EZine you'd prolly get more readers if you post an online version.
Just a thought :)
I look forward to the next Roger!
I might make an online version of it, if Hotspot would like it... :-\
btw, I hope you spell checked it ::)
If you want to make an online version go ahead Os :P
Hurry up and get your PC fixed and come back to #ags ._.

tentackle -> tentacle....
but it was very cool. i too, am working on my own walking animation tutorial. good job on this whole issue. love to see more.
yeah, I left the interview with raymaN as is. I think its better that way :)
Ehh... hmm... you may want to change the title because "teh" is annoying as hell... ::)
Seconded, it gets a bit excessive.
The idea with QQQ would have been much more interesting if the average quality level of released AGS-games weren't already quick and crappy.
They make it sound as if the problem with most ags-games is that they're far too sophisticated, lengthy and overelaborated...a sentiment I don't exactly share :)

You mean you've never thought "Oh, no, not another free game with stunning graphics, animation, music, plot and gameplay?" I hate those ones (as they ruin my chances of getting an AGS Award) ;)
yeh but the QQQ make these games on purpose and not because we can't do better, which we can't...
uh, nice os!
bet you wont see me on#ags for a while >:(
*Hindersh screws RobertEric in the ear
In my tutorial, there's a bit at the end where you should see the animated gif of my finished walkcycle, but seeing as you can't see it in the pdf fully animated, I thought I'd post it here, just for reference really:
I know it's not brilliant (the face changes a little & the arm 'wobbles'), but I think I got the basic animation alright. That said, I'm sure Scumm will kick my virtual ass at this whole thing. But hey, tutorials aren't a competition, & I'm sure some people will be happy to get their hands on any resources they can, no matter how shakey &................unpixelated they are.
But still, in years to come, at least I can tell my grandchildren that I worked on the very first Monthly Roger. I liked the rest of the issue, great job!
Keep on.....................tranglin'*
*(yes, this quote was stolen directly from Homestar Runner. No, I don't care.)
Downloading atm, Ill tell you what I think once I read it.
Edit:
Okay, so I read it. The overall impression is good, Ill do some points on the stuff I like and dont like about it:
+the rating system is good, and the roger sprite fit in there really well
+good tutorial, v00g. Should really help people who draw by hand
-You chose the games for reviews by a strange system. I didn't see one of the longer non-MAGS games reviewed.
-The layout is a bit stiff, the font is too big and the reviews are too short
-the previews sound a lot like a newsflash or something. You don't actually give additional info to the reader, just retell what's written in the development thread. A piece of advice, whien you preview the game, contact the author for further details
So, at the end of the day the first issue is promising, keep improving!

Good enough for me :D
I likes teh style! :) Keep it up!
All i see is the first page, the rest is blank
Considering that I put everything together during the early hours of the morning, and I was tired as hell... I think it came out rather well, for a rushed job.
And also, I had thought everything was supposed to be spell checked already... Hotspot. :P
well.. keep rogering!
I redownloaded it and i still get a font encoding error.
I don't know why you would be getting that error. The only thing I can think of would be that you might not have one of the fonts used in the .pdf file on your computer, but I don't think that would affect it. :-/
Check to see that you have both Impact and Times New Roman installed on your computer. If not, do a search on Google for them and download them, and then install them into your Fonts folder. If it still doesn't work, then i don't know what is wrong with it.
I had Acrobat Reader 3.0 on my computer previously, and I kept getting font decoding errors with may pdf's. I updated, just for teh roger :) and it works fine now. Check your reader version.
Yep that was it, thanks TK
Great work, Os, glad to see my reviews and the interview up at last :D
