Title: text adventures community

Is there something like the AGS community but related to the text adventures?

In other words a game engine, forums, game showcase, etc.?

I *think* there is somewhere. You should probably check Wikipedia... I could do it myself, but then again, I'm lazy  ;)

Try searching for Interactive Fiction as that's what people seem to call it these days. I think there's a site called Ifarchive or something like that, and another called brass lantern.

Actually, there's much more!

There are lots of game engines: Inform (http://www.inform-fiction.org/), TADS (http://teladesign.com/tads/), Hugo (http://www.generalcoffee.com/hugo.html), ADRIFT (http://www.adrift.org.uk/), Alan (http://www.alanif.se/), ... (http://www.ifwiki.org/index.php/Category:Authoring_system)

As for a games showcase, I suggest you check out the past winners of the Annual Interactive Fiction Competition (http://ifcomp.org/) (since 1995) and the Xyzzy Awards (http://www.wurb.com/if/award/3) (since 1996)

As for "forums", there are the two interactive fiction newsgroups: rec.games.int-fiction (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.int-fiction/topics) (about playing text adventures) and rec.arts.int-fiction (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.int-fiction/topics) (about authoring text adventures)

For more detailed answers (and links to further information) check out: Ifaq (http://plover.net/~textfire/raiffaq/ifaq/) and the Interactive Fiction Wiki (http://www.ifwiki.org/)
