Agreed.  I was rather looking forward to this one, and was sorry to hear about the cancellation.  Fortunately, I was wrong in my pessimistic view that pleading with VU wouldn't accomplish anything.  Being a large corporate entity that's militantly been purchasing properties and plunging them into mediocrity, I didn't expect this.  Even if it was to save face from negative press, thanks VU, and -more so - thanks to the fans and makers that kept pushing.

Good stuff!
The game now has a better title as a result! No more numeral, no more colon, short snappy name.
Off topic, perhaps using POS isn't a good abbreviation for the Studio. :P

I just got the newsletter(s) (3 at a time ...) the best news this week  :D
I wonder whether the letters from the fans were one of the reasons why this happened or whether it would have happened anyway ...

Awe man, this is so awesome! After the abominations that were KQ7 and KQ8, I was REALLY looking forward to KQ9 as a game that could restore the good name of the series. Like most others, I was crushed when VU stomped on it.

But I am overjoyed to hear it is back! Yay, yay, yay!!! And THANK YOU VU for actually listening to your fans, for once....er, fans of your old games, anyway.  :P

Heh, the KQIX page still says at the bottom: " "KQIX: Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining" is a work of fan fiction. It is based on the popular King's Quest series, which is wholly Copyright of Sierra Entertainment, Inc. 1979-2005. "

I can't find anything there...

As a result, "King's Quest IX: Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining" will now adopt a new name: "The Silver Lining". We chose such a name because in many ways it represents the spirit that has always represented our project.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

The name change seems like a fair agreement. I think that's how Night of the Hermit was safe from those people.. the ones who make those games about the dark force and such.
