Title: The future of Pixel Art Podcast
Post by: MillsJROSS on Mon 24/08/2015 23:58:19
Geeks Guide to the Galaxy Podcast (Topic: Pixel Art) (http://geeksguideshow.com/2015/08/05/ggg162-pixel-art/)

Listened to this podcast and thought I'd share. It has a panel of pixel artists discussing the future of Pixel Art. One of the panelists was an artist for Secret of Monkey Island and is currently working on the Thimbleweed project. The podcast itself is one of my favorite's for anything sci-fi related.

I think Pixel Art will be here for a while, but it's going to be niche, and probably rarely will be mainstream.

I do agree.

For me pixel art is amazing... When i see MI2 or now thimbleweed park, i'm really fan of backgrounds, characters that are wonderful.
But for real, if you give monkey island 1 to a child today, i'm not sure he would like it...
It's the same for me, i do not like black & white movies coz they look like "old" (i'm 29).

It's a question of generation... but can we see more game like thimbleweed park in the future ?
I'm not sure with thoses graphics unfortunately - that's not enough commercial and as you said, it's more going to be a niche

Pixel art is eternal old school which transforms according to the modern trends, but not loose is originality and features. Like it so much and hope it will never die both in games and in the art.. As I noticed, all new artists are trying to combine the pixel art with other styles, do I think that it can be the further generation of it.. ;)
