Mr Jake

Hey all,

For the past few weeks I have been working on a small application to aid in the design of games, since this is my first attempt at making a sizable functioning application I have designed to release it a chuck at a time, get one part fully working and then move onto the next, this way I shouldn't get swamped with bugs.

Currently the program features a room planning system partly designed by m0ds.

m0ds wanted this section to look like a sort of story board, I don't have experience of storyboards, so I just winged it!  I think what I ended up with could be pretty useful.  It has the option to import an image or even draw a fresh one in the basic paint program included - SPaint:

It also allows you to write information about the room, and which rooms ajoin it using the area to the lower of the form.

You can download the current version here

If you do, please feel free to leave feedback or if you find bugs PM me or post here.
Thanks,

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Sounds pretty interesting and no mistake. You might want to take a look at Rodekill's Wurd Problems, which you can find either at www.rodekill.com's or my own resource page (link in sig). If you incorporate all the features it has and add your own, it would be quite wonderful. You already have a superior paint and room system... though, if I may, you might want (or, I, as the user, might like ;) ) someplace to write room-related stuff, but stuff that's not actually related to one specific room. Maybe a group of rooms, or something.

I'll up it to my site when the full version is ready.

hmm, you mean like room grouping? I could probably add that, it will also be good to add a feature like that for the puzzle planner.

No, more like a sort of global script. As it is, as far as I could see, we can write stuff about each room, like  a local room script. A nice addition would be a "global" script, where we can write about rooms in general - ideas for rooms that we want to put in somewhere, for instance. Going back to Wurd Problems, at the mo I could use THAT and your program simultaneously to get pretty much the same effect. The ideal would be to use your application only instead of 2 separate(sp?) ones.

This looks like an awesome idea. I might utilize this in the re-starting of the By the Sword project. :) Which is very, very soon.
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...
