Title: The Itch to Begin Again
Post by: Sylvr on Wed 27/09/2006 02:47:26
Yeah, so a little while ago I finished my game, and now I have this really weird urge to just start something else, and use everything I've learned. Something a lot larger scale than what I just did. But I cannot think of a story line for the life of me! Anyone else have such an 'itch'? (If so, maybe we can come up with stuff as a team! I've already got a decent artist :P)

Why not contribute to the Sphinx project with your itchiness?

Yeah I was never going to make a game again, but all the messages hoping I make another game kinda gave me the itch!

But I want to do something better, new, and cartoony! I want to make a game with my graphics tablet, freedrawing the characters and not just the backgrounds.

But not really sure how to go about that. Oh well suppose there's plenty of guides around here.

But right now, I have a bigger itch, to make music!

I am totally untalent to drawing characters, so luckily i found a 3d designing program to at least draw realistic the surounding environment. With this advantage, i had some days before the itch to create a new nice and bigger than my other previous three games game. But it will need to spend a looot of time... :(

You mean 'Awakening of the Sphinx'? Is that your game? Can I help?Ã,  ;D

Haha, I definately haven't had that, but I miss the constant work and the planning, even though it sounds odd...

I know that whenever I'll come up with something decent, as I said, Fender said she'd draw for me. Makes it easier since we live in the same house.Ã,  ;D But if anyone has an idea they want to start on I'm sure we can all work as a team.

EDIT: I also meant to add that I have this urge to re-do KQ 6 (definately a favourite), definately nothing serious. I found this site a while back with all the soundtracks and lines from a lot of Sierra games and I could use those :P

This might be a little premature, but I have started work on Just Another Point n Click Adventure part 2, and development is going slow mainly because i'm doing all the art myself. I'll probably start a thread soon about it, but if anyone is interested, check it out the first part here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=169. I've been trying to find an artist to help me out with characers and backgrounds for so long that i've just started doing it myself. If anyone wants to start pixelling (what I call it when i'm "trying" to do "art") please PM me, or email me. Your efforts would be MUCH appreciated.

I have it constantly, then I work hard for a week, the routine becomes overpowering and I fade out..

Here is the wiki about the Sphinx collaboration:

It's a very good idea, and in need of contributors!

I know what you mean about the itch, man. I've been getting the itch to re-start By the Sword: Conspiracy from scratch, possibly with hand-drawn art as I've gotten better at graphical design and have read quite a few tutorials on drawing quality backgrounds on the computer. I really want to start working on it, but I just don't have the time, what with a wedding to plan, a baby to prepare for, web design jobs here and there taking up my time, etc. Maybe in the future I might start it up again, but for now my hands are tied.

Wow.. you've got a lot of stuff going on there! I have no excuse... however, I've found a new project, and possibly another! And you should see one of them soon ;D

I've been damn busy lately, but I've found myself becoming addicted to having loads and loads of work thrust upon me. Call me masochistic, but I find the workloads and other things enjoyable. If I'm not kept busy, I get...I dunno, not really depressed, but intensely bored and I have the intense feeling like I'm useless, and must be kept busy with something in order to be satisifed. Do I have issues? LOL

Yeah, I know what you mean... I got so 'itchy' after finishing J & D, that I gave my 10year old sister the idea to make a game, so now I'm working a lot on that. But for sure, the AGS competition/game workloads are my favourite.
