Hi,
"In an effort to celebrate the entertainment masterminds of our industry, your pals at IGN.com com have assembled the ultimate list of creative game geniuses."
The list isn´t complete yet but, please, go there and take a look at positions 21 and 23: http://games.ign.com/top-100-game-creators/index.html
Yay for Tim Schafer. Boo for Roberta Williams. We shall never forgive her for King's Quest 5.
All seems highly arbitrary to me. The whole "Top 100" and numbering system should have been discarded. Or are they actually making an attempt to rate these people? Every key member of Black Isle, Obsidian, Rockstar, Bioware, Blizzard, etc seem to have made the list, which seems a bit pointless. I know there's no "I" in "Team", but...
81. Ron Gilbert vs 21. Tim Schafer. What does that mean? 92. Danielle Bunten Berry vs 40. Cliff Bleszinski. If you're not attempting to make a statement regarding one creators "worth" over another, why bother numbering them?
The list also features musicians, programmers, concept artists, etc, which seems even more redundant when you list them in order of...what, exactly?
Nothing generates traffic like fanboy-baiting guff.
I'm not on that list so it's clearly bullshit.
EXCELSIOR!
No Bob Bates? No Tom Hall?
You'd better hope they're there in the top 10 list otherwise your whole list sucks big time.
