Played through the entire part 1 on PS3 today and personaly I really loved it!!! Never cared much about other Telltale games, but this one I think was excellent. They are definitely heading in the right direction. I can't wait for another chapter! :) I wonder what you guys think. Anyone had a chance to play yet?
I just finished part 1 yesterday. I haven't played through a second time to try and change things around, but it does have me thinking about all the different options I could have done differently. I really liked it too. I felt a real sense of closeness with the little girl, the story and everything came together better than I thought it would. Well worth the 400 micro points I spent on it. I wish the game had a bit more puzzles, but perhaps in the upcoming chapters. The dialogs felt just right...not too long, not too short. I think the game accomplished what it set out to do, make you stress every action and sentence you had to pick....well done!
Does anyone know how long it will be between chapters?
Well, first thing you notice about this game, just few seconds in, is how brilliant the voice acting is. There's one scene in the demo, in which you listen to 3 recorded voicemail messages, as they go from your usual "some crazy guy bit me, we're off to the hospital" to panicked screams of "don't leave the house, call 911!!!" and such. The acting is just fantastic, its quality almost unheard in videogames.
Spoiler
Nicky, you mention you cared about Clementine- and so did I. All through the game I felt I wanted to keep her safe and acted in her best interest. I was honest with her from the start- about her parents, the undead and my own past. Zombie apocalypse is no time to lie to kids.... ;)
When I got to decide between Doug the IT guy and the lady reporter, I chose to help Doug. Why? Because reporter knew of Lee's past. She was a threat and if she'd told everyone in the group they could've split up Lee and the child... At least, that was what went through my head in those few seconds I had to think about it. Apparently, only about 22% of players did that. Doug is a chubby geek. The reporter- now dead, was an attractive outspoken woman. And she had a gun... My wife didn't understand my decision- I should've saved a woman- always save women and children first!;) But that's exactly what I did- Clementine needed Lee to save her from the world, and I made this strange sacrifice for her.
So, to sum it up, this game works pretty much like a personality test, but under pressure and with only seconds to think about your decisions, it truly shows what kind of person you are. And you might be surprised... I still am!;)
Pretty funny, because I made all the same decisions you did. It seems you and I are a rare breed of people...lol.
I think it's great! Played episode 1 through a few times now, making different decisions and seeing where it leads.
A great example of a modern day point 'n click adventure game. Took me a little while to get used to the '3D comic book sketch' graphics, but I totally dig them now!
Team Xbox have revealed the release dates for the future episodes, I guess it'll be the same dates for PSN and Steam.
â– Episode 2: Starved for Help - May 30th, 2012
â– Episode 3: Long Road Ahead - June 25th, 2012
â– Episode 4: Around Every Corner - July 27th, 2012
â– Episode 5: No Time Left - August 29th, 2012
I've got two Steam keys for the PC version of this to give away - first two people to PM me get them. Even better if you could send me a short write-up of your thoughts about the game afterwards.
**BOTH NOW GONE**
Played a little bit at my girlfriend's house. Really, really pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.
The button-mash quicktime events are as lame as they were back in Heavy Rain but everything else... I dunno... just kind of works. You feel involved without the game losing any of it's classy TV show-feeling sheen.
It's about what I expected, a fairly disappointing clone of Jurassic Park's mechanics with a few improvements set in a zombie apocalypse. No real exploration of dark alleys or corners, no real connection to the actual Walking Dead comic beyond some cameos, and by that I mean the entire sense of scrounging and making your own way is completely lost in the way the game was designed, which is basically a drama to drama slideshow event. It's not quite as bad as I feared, but it's certainly far from the source material in terms of what they had to work with and could have done had they been less intellectually lazy with the design. They could have at least made the zombie confrontations more directly interactive than slamming a button repeatedly.
My 17 month-old had a screaming fit last night between 2am and 4am, now I feel like the walking dead... still haven't played the game yet, and ProgZmax's description of it being similar to Jurassic Park has really made me unenthusiastic about it.
I really liked it.
The level of immersion was pretty high, and more than I'm used to from other similar games.
I'd say definitely give it a try.
Would I buy the game? Probably not, but that's more due to me liking the idea of zombie stories sicne usually those stories end up using elements like - he's bitten, but let's try to help him or characters freaking out and opening doors, being generally stupid. And this does happen in this game as well. Even when the obvious metaphor of "humans are the real monsters" needs to be addressed, it just usually gets messed up within "people are stupid" category.
In short - I liked the game, it was tense and story was interesting.
About the choice at the end of the game, I find it actually clear cut:
Spoiler
Doug or Carley - obviously Carley - shoots a gun pretty good, she seems not to want to tell people who I am and trusts me and Doug was pretty infatuated with and already saved her life once, so I think he wouldn't really mind the sacrifice. I think most people thought about it in that way, that's why the percentage was high.
Even though we might not agree, still shows a game has a good story concept when you actually have doubts about the choices and think about them.
I've really liked Telltales's other games since they started (Sam & Max & MI have been done really well IMO). I'm def. gonna try this one out too, looks great.
My choice was:
Spoiler
Doug because nobody really explained how he saved Carly and he's a tech whiz which I think makes him a good commodity to have since the lead can use weapons just fine. Plus..
Carly was essentially blackmailing you about your past, so that got rid of her as a potential loose end...though they had to bring in that idiotic loudmouth to take her place at the end of the ep.
I really liked this game.
I have been reading The Walking Dead, and also watched the TV series, and I think the game is pretty faithful to the idea of the comic. It focuses on people interaction and the zombies are just some kind of prop to trigger people into these interactions. If you have read the comic you have seen the dehumanization of Rick, Carl and the rest of the group as numbers go by.
My opinions are pretty much the same as NickyNyce. I loved the game but felt it lacked some serious puzzles. The radio puzzle is a joke. (roll)
Having played Jurassic Park, I must disagree with ProgZmax, this is nothing like JP. It's not some smash-buttons-at-the-right-time thing, it's like a soften up point n' click.
As for my choices:
Spoiler
I saved Carly because she has a gun and knows how to use it. I also saved the kid at Hershel's farm and took his side on the pharmacy, let's see if all this loyalty is rewarded by the boy's father. This put the old guy against me, and he knows about the main character's past so he is someone to keep an eye on. I don't remember everyones name.
I might play the game and choose all the opposite actions, just to see what happens. :-D
I'm just really curious to see how my actions will influence the game in the future, this is one of the best thing about TWD.
I guess we played two entirely different games then since the zombie attacks always had a button mash sequence...

Not only did they have mashing, but on pc version if you look at controls options, you can still see instruction for an xbox controller. :-D
It would be interesting to see if they stick with choices made through the episodes, just don't know if that might lead to too much branching out from a technical standpoint though. I mean there's 2-3 major branches just in this episode, in the next it goes exponential and then by the end of episode 5 there's really a great amount of major differences. Also the fact that they kind of count on you replaying an episode one at a time, the choices you end up with in the end might just be from an experimental gameplay you played last.
Yes, on Zombie attacks you must press buttons, but it's not the main gameplay of the game like in Jurassic Park.
That Jurassic Park game sounds so awful, I don't want to touch it with a ten foot pole. it's the main reason I was iffy on getting Walking Dead but I have been proven wrong and it is a good game of it's type and ytou shouldn't let Jurassic Park affect your hudgement is my jhudgemenr juggle juggernaut jugs,.
I enjoyed most of all the fact that a lot of cut-scenes were interactive. Even little things like being able to move your head while events take place add lots of value to the game in my opinion... And the button mashing... well. If there was some kind of proper fighting system in the game they would get totally slaughtered for it. People'd start to expect some kind of God of War clone or something... But when you have a choice of just watching a scene in which a zombie gets killed or actually having some- minimal or not- input, I really prefer the latter. It doesn't require skill, true, but just adds to intensity of it all.
I'm thinking that maybe
Spoiler
Doug, the IT guy could turn out to be some really great character further along the line?... There was a moment in that game, silly as it sounds, while me and Doug sat behind that locked door watching zombies as they strolled the street, talking and kinda bonding as friends. I thought it was a really good dialogue there. I thought: hey, this guy's alright. Maybe that's why I saved him? I hardly spoke to the reporter. I got an impression she was some kind of cold bitch, actually... Anyway, if Doug dies in next episode, I will be seriously disappointed... ;)
I'm up to the point just returned from trying to save the bitten girl from the zombies at her door.
Spoiler
She asked the reporter for the gun, I failed to reply fast enough, we dropped down one floor and in the end she got the gun and shot herlsef.
Is there any way to make her go back inside without killing herself at once?
by now I like the overall presentation. The nice cellshaded with a paintover effect rendering and the atmosphere. Voiceacting is also good. I don't know why the all sounds were on 10 as a default setting as I had a really hard time understanding the talk with the music so loud over it. But that's an easy fix though. For riddles, well, it's sooo straightforward, little to no exploration possible this is a bit of a downside, but all in all it's a fun interactive clicky movie.

The point of the scene is the shock and choice between
Spoiler
shooting her yourself or let her shoot or try to avoid it...then you fail to avoid it. I must admit I didn't expect her to be bitten before the actual conversation in front of the door, really caught me by surprise, but then of course things go their predictable way.
QuoteIf there was some kind of proper fighting system in the game they would get totally slaughtered for it.
This is the sort of thing I take exception to. Why would a proper fighting system get them 'totally slaughtered'? It's a survival horror game for shits' sake. You don't play a zombie survival game based on a hit comic about people fighting zombies (and each other) and being in danger of dying at just about any second and demand there be no real combat gameplay...That's just utterly stupid!
And I'm not saying
you are stupid, Grim, I'm saying people who think there's no place for combat in a game about the zombie apocalypse are completely and utterly stupid.
If you want to play a game with no combat or action, fine. I totally understand that. But don't take a genre absolutely synonymous with bloody, brutal survival and strip it down to a rapid-fire mash festival, it's just ri-damn-diculous, and what's worse, those sequences are completely unrewarding on any real level and make most players feel like they're just operating an interactive cutscene -- which, honestly, is the only purpose for such events that I find even remotely tolerable (ie, add the bash face cutscene in AFTER I've beaten the piss out of the zombie!).
This game is a perfect example of why I can't stand Telltale's approach to gaming. Look at the entire motel sequence. Instead of allowing you to freely move (as you can in the pharmacy, for example) and creep on your own, you're forced to choose between click left or click right. This is just shit and shows how intellectually lazy the designers were. I refuse to believe they removed direct control in situations like that because people would complain about being able to creep all around the map examining shit and getting killed for being stupid. It's not there because it was easier to turn everything into a cutscene, its that simple (no need for AI, no need for solutions the designer's didn't consider, and so on).
I haven't played this game nor have I seen the trailers. I did however see the trailers for the Jurassic Park game and that looked absolutely terrible. Who would be interested in something like that?
Anyway, I enjoy the tv show. It's a little slow at times and the character development is a little awkward. How they randomly change to a completely different person from one episode to another. It's almost as bad as that Merlin tv show in that aspect.

You see, I don't think it is! It's some strange hybrid, a horror for sure, but not the kind of horror in which you have to make bullets and healthpacks last... If you are reluctant to call it an andventure game, I will happily settle for the term "interactive story". It's not for everyone, it's at times quite simplistic, and it is definitely a console game... but how can I explain that I've had so mych fun with it and can't wait for part 2? I've been a keen gamer all my life, and I can tell a shit game from a good game. I've murdered thousands of zombies, great deal of them with a frying pan;) But it just worked for me, and more- I felt like posting here and praising it up to this community. I don't normally do that!
I guess you can't have it all in one game. It'd be awesome to play a game Ryan descibes... But I don't think it's gonna happen any time soon. Sometimes it's all down to our expectations. If you get all hyped up for something it might then let you down too easily...
One more thing- while other Tellatale games have terrible graphics imo, The Walking Dead and its sketchy/pencil drawn textures rock! I think the game looks absolutely fantastic!:)

Wasn't Dead Island sort of the described all-in-one game, in concept at least? Salvaging weapons, fighting people as well as zombies etc. On a similar note, the AGS Steam group might schedule a L4D2 game more often.
And yes, TT really made the graphic style work in this game, but from 3d model point of view I think it's the same modelling style and level of detail they have in all their other games.
2nd episode should be coming next week if the promised release schedule is kept. They do keep this information kind of hard to actually find, probably to not seem too tardy if the release is late.
QuoteIt'd be awesome to play a game Ryan descibes..
This I agree on! ^_^
QuoteWasn't Dead Island sort of the described all-in-one game, in concept at least?
I think Dead Island got a lot of things right when it came to the zombie infestation and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the things where I think they floundered though were the fps combat mechanics that would have been better suited for third person, the setting didn't really appeal to hardcore genre fans, and none of the player characters were particularly interesting or likeable.
I definitely think their plans for 'Dead World' will satisfy the needs of people like Ryan who want to scrounge through cities for food and weapons, though I'm worried they're going to use the same four horrible protagonists. Seriously, even Ryder White was more charismatic (if you played the DLC).
I think The Walking Dead would have been more faithfully served as a game closer to Dead Island than Telltale's approach, in any event.
I do agree the cartoon cell-shading covers up the typical shortcomings of Telltale's graphic engine, though!
Quote from: Ryan Timothy on Sun 20/05/2012 04:27:21It's a little slow at times and the character development is a little awkward. How they randomly change to a completely different person from one episode to another.
I've only seen the first episode of the TV show, but the comic is the same way. The writer has admitted he's winging it from issue to issue, and despite the popularity of the book, I think it shows, so I gave up on it. One issue, the old man would be accusing the sheriff of leading everyone into disaster, the next he'd be berating others for not following the sheriff loyally. Plus, I found Black Lady Ninja a fairly shallow character, an anti-cliche that somehow still played to stereotypes.
Also with the game I was describing, having the goal to get from, let's say, New York to LA with a much much smaller scale. Something in a fictional universe would be best though, with boundaries like oceans, large rivers, or damaged bridges. Maybe something similar to the Florida Keys would be best. Which would be easiest to limit you to certain areas without the need for imaginary walls, and the overall atmosphere of the Keys is amazing for a zombie apocalypse. With maybe more of a city element in a few of the small islands with a couple skyscrapers (without the ability to go to every single floor - perhaps the stairs are demolished after a couple floors and of course no power to the elevators). Some houses and such have power as they run generators. If you shut off/damage the generator the people who live there come out to fight.
Being at least 10 years into future after the world is consumed with the zombie virus, but zombies still exist because they don't eat only flesh like you see in traditional stories. They eat everything.
Then with an optional multiplayer friend (or a few friends) would be best. You could both go wandering off in your own path, or stick together. Helping each other in battle, or you searching one side of a street while your buddy searches the other. Challenging each other at finding the best gear or valuables. Also both having your own cars and racing along the bridges connecting the islands or maneuvering through towns. Side swipe your friend's car into an abandoned car or wreck. lol
That's the only reason why I wouldn't want cars because once people get into one and have plenty of gas, you'd constantly have to get in and out, so you'd likely just want to keep driving without stopping. It's a tough call, because I would personally want a car in that game. I wouldn't explore EVERY single house, but I would definitely look.
It should be something like Fallout 3 though, where it's not suburbian hell and there's just a cluster fuck of houses with no hope in hell to search through them all. But with houses that have burnt down, demolished, fell over, boarded up tight (secret entrances). A country side with farms and such would be the best design for a game with cars.
Episode 2 now on xbox and on friday pc and ps3. It was about freaking time.
They also posted stats and choices players made all together (they also show the outcome of the highest %) WARNING-PLENTY OF SPOILERS, so don't watch unless you played through the 1st episode

p.s. hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by posting here, but blame Telltale for the delay :-D

Still have to wait till Friday... but since I work all weekend I won't play it until Sunday... But that's still awesome!!!:)
...episode 2 is ok. It's one thing when you're reading or watching the Walking dead type of setting, but it kind of gets you really down when you always have tough choices and basically you always feel like crap after you made them. That might be the point though. Then again feeling like crap for 10+ hours doesn't sound that much fun.
I think they even put some "easy" choices here (because the statistics at the end show85% of the same choice, just give the player a break.
Puzzle design is practically none existent and story's twist is pretty predictable if you ever watched the show...or watched one particular movie/book.
Also the end was one of those "I don't agree with the game maker sort of choices:
Spoiler
you get to the abandoned car, and there's no choice of leaving some food for the chance that somebody might comeback, I know they kind of wanted to make a point of the farmer's cannibalism for survival, but still a clumsy lack of choice
Any one else finished the 2nd episode?
I just finished episode two, really loved the ending, the lighting added a lot in the shot through the door. I felt the second episode had a bit more choice and consequence, not sure i did as well as in the first.
Apparently i was with just 18% of players for one of the choices (which i would presume has a fair bit of impact on the story), i messed up :=
A bit more interaction would be nice and the control scheme isn't very well suited to PC gameplay, but i'm enjoying it!
It's not on PS Network yet... Maybe it's the Europe 'thing'? Everything's late here...
For now, I'll avoid reading anything about it;)
Thematically I thought episode two was a bit of an improvement, though the plot twist was so utterly predictable that the moment I got to the farm I knew how it was going to turn out. Still, there were a few things that were really problematic that Telltale needs to stop doing:
1:
Spoiler
They need to stop introducing one-off characters. It's becoming too obvious that they're going to die and the moment they introduced Mark and showed he and your character getting along it was CLEAR he was going to die. Bad design choice. If they were going to kill him we should have had him in the last episode with some kind of build up. As it was there was no time to really feel any empathy for him at all.
2:
Spoiler
The character you chose to save in the first episode (Carly or Doug) is now relegated to a tertiary character who performs co-equal support roles regardless of who you saved. If it's Doug, his solutions are more mechanical like the alarm system, if it's Carly she makes an early zombie encounter slightly easier by shooting it. Ultimately though these characters have been made weak distant roles by the very fact that they made them optional.
3:
Spoiler
Breaking into the abbetoir does NOTHING to forward the action. A better solution would have been for one of the brothers to have knocked you out and locked you in there while the rest of the family was getting ready to eat and made some excuse. Mark could have been inside and this would have made escaping more harried and necessary instead of the weird excuse that you're given that you just shrug off.
4:
Spoiler
Kenny's sudden unreasonable response in the locker even when you tell him you gave his son the benefit of the doubt at the pharmacy. It just did not sit well with me that Kenny, who I had backed up continuously to that point, refused to be reasonable and at least give me a chance to save Larry. It felt like a forced schism in the group rather than a natural one as they clearly intended it to be.
Some things I liked:
Spoiler
I really like the running morality lessons for Clementine, from refusing to kill Larry to refusing to kill both brothers and even refusing to partake in the abandoned food, it made me feel like I was doing right by this little innocent girl and it made even the difficult choices bearable. So far Clementine is the best part of the story in my opinion because she's so sweet and vulnerable and needs your character to remain humane and ethical even when the world is falling apart.
Overall I think it was better than the first but the zombie confrontation mechanics still feel lazy and limited.

I decided to take the food, it was food and we where all starving. But coming to think about it, I don't think that food will have any impact in the plot for the next episode.
The first time Mark appears I thought "Who the hell is this guy?" And then they threw some lousy back story of how you met him, and then they kill him. Deus ex machina all over it.

maybe you'll like the last of us:

WOW! ~ This is like cinema
... all those little details and such smooth animations and changing the view by "pivoting of the camera" ...
Haven't noticed anything I didn't saw in Max Payne 3 :P, except for maybe animations are more elegant.
Guess that is becoming graphics standard now.
...and in fact that's little sad. If I saw that a year ago, I would be excited as much. Am I getting too used to all those wonders?
Playing it now. Finally!!! European PS3 owners have raged for days about the delay... Well, got some crisps and a can of Fosters and it's time to punch some zombies:)
Well, for people who hate the adventure game styling, Activision are doing a shooter based on the IP.
I bet you're all 9000000000% excited for this now :cheesy: (http://www.thewalkingdeadbegins.com/)
A chance to play as a pair of racist, motorcycle riding, zombie killing, skinhead brothers? Man, I've waited my entire life for a game like this! It's like the Mario brothers all over again (only Merle and Daryl are less murderous than Mario and Luigi). :cheesy:
Now if only somebody would convince Naughty Dog to release The Last Of Us for PC instead of making it a Playstation exclusive. Damn, that game looks so sweet!
I thought that crap was gonna be console only. I didn't think they would be able to do this since the adventure game already took the name?
Why the Walking Dead isn't an action game even though now it's already going to be one!? (http://au.ign.com/articles/2012/07/10/kirkman-fps-walking-dead-would-be-pointless)
Well the 3rd episode is out on all platforms. Played it through and...again some choices you are presented with are not accurate in what result they'll bring (the tone of the written line and what the characters says is sometimes contradictory), that kind of messed me up on a couple of occasions.
Still continuing their trick of how to keep the number of branching stories low, by getting rid of characters and introducing new ones. To be honest I haven't played it thorough more than once (maybe I'll do that when the whole game comes out) so I'm not yet sure which characters might have been saved, but I doubt it.
Spoiler
I'm guessing I could've saved Carley instead of Ben, but I'll go along with this scenario
As far as I've seen on the end statistics screen, it seems the choices are ambiguous almost to perfection, since the decisions are kept near the 50%...I'm guessing that's good work on the writer's part. The story is getting interesting, though it's the middle on so it's also kind of meandering a lot.
Is it out in Europe yet?... Last time there was a bit of a gap between American and European release (at least for PS3), so I'm trying not to get my hopes up yet;)
The site says it should be. On pc it is, since I have a European Steam account.

I agree with this, completely. I'm not a fan of the latest episode. I did a
lot of replays to try and change one of the story arcs, it was completely unavoidable.

The story progression wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have that feeling that it was only not to branch out too much.
4th episode out, ends in a cliffhanger...again. Although this time, before the end, there'll be a point where you'll see what I think was supposed to be the game all along (decisions mattering).
Some cool twists and some cool new characters, but everything is kind of stretched out just a tad too much. Really no puzzles at all (even though there's real legitimate opportunities for them), but more action/QTE stuff, which I guess is nice for the change of pacing.
All in all I like where this episode left things at, except that the whole plot line with

the walkie talkie, just doesn't look it can go anywhere that good (although I hope I'm wrong). There seems to be the option that Oberson (Crawford leader) will be the shadowy man and this whole 2nd part of the episode was a backstory for that, but I don't know if the shadowy persona is him.
Also, even though I've been on Kenny's side more than often, the prick wouldn't go with me to find Clem, but thankfully everybody else did. Kenny might get messed up if Vernon and his team or the walkie-talkie guy try to take the boat though...we'll see.
Oh, and the way Crawford fell, was actually a pretty good twist.
The season finale releases November 20th , for PSN in North America, November 21st for everyone else, across all platforms!
Yay!!! :)
I have to admit this game so far has been pretty damn good. Can't wait to see how it ends! (although living in UK I'll be one of the last to find out...)
First of all
STAY THROUGH AND AFTER THE CREDITS! There's an extra ending.
Well this one was rather, I'm guessing it's best for a finale and all.
Wow, ending would be so much better if there wasn't a achievement technical glitch (I'm guessing by comments read so far) and the fact that in the end:
Spoiler
1. I get what they were trying to do with the guy knowing what decisions you made through the game, but I'm kind of sorry you couldn't make the guy guilt trip enough so he kills himself. Plus the whole thing is just really coincidental. Besides I wanted to leave a part of the supplies behind at that stupid car, but the game was like "All or nothing, you're a cruel man either way"
2. I told Clem to go to the train (figured since we looked at the coast and saw no more boats, that there weren't any boats, besides, both wanted to go into the country side) but the after credits clip shows a countryside and Clem alone WHAT THE HELL!?
Personally I'm getting on the first boat I can in a zombie apocalypse, there's plenty of islands here where you can be safe...
I know there were no posts here for a long time, but 400 Days DLC episode is out this week:
"The first piece of downloadable content for Telltale Game's critically acclaimed The Walking Dead adventure game comes out this week for the PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3. It should be out now on PSN, will be out tomorrow for PC users, and Xbox 360 gamers should see it pop up on Friday. The iOS version comes out next week, and PSVita owners will have to wait until August. Better still, if you bought The Walking Dead: Season 1 on Telltale's official store, 400 Days will be a free download, as a thank you from Telltale. This offer extends to any future purchases of Season 1.
Everywhere else it will cost $4.99, or the equivalent value in MS points."
how could I have missed that!
god, I'm really excited now! Too bad I read this 2 days too early, now I can't wait that long.
and thanks for re-opening this old topic, so I can write a few words. IMO the walking dead is the best thing that could have happened to video games in general. apart from personally loving every moment of it, I think it managed to bring AAA games to a new level (actually, it probably can't be consider AAA, but it managed to compete in that category after it's success). It's exactly what I consider a perfect adventure. It's not so much about long and complicated puzzles, more taking the player on that 'adventure' and making him care (and hell did I care!).
I think we all dream about making/playing a video game where decisions really matter. I don't care if the decisions in TWD actually mattered or not from a storytelling point of view, but that's not the point. What matters, is that it does a perfect job in convincing you that your decisions DO matter. I heard people complaining along the lines of "i played through it again making different decisions and it turned out it all ends in a similar way. So the freedom of choice isn't real.". Well … doh! What do you expect?! And what is "freedom of choice"? Can you even prove there is such a thing in real life?
So...season 2, they're taking in preorders already. First episode comes out "before Christmas" and then they say 4-6 weeks between episodes...which I think is a bloody long time.
Some choices will carry on from S1 and the 400 dlc (haven't bought the DLC yet, waiting on a sale) and the story continues from the end of season 1.
Season 1 had trouble with keeping the pace of issuing new episodes, now with TT working parallely on The wolf among us series...there's gonna be even more trouble.
EDIT: deleted where you can get discounts of the game, just installed DLC and now all my save games are gone...f***-ing great

There's also a chance we'll get the games in a more punctual fashion. They've learned a lot from Season 1 and have probably streamlined their process, workflow, and tools so they can crank episodes out like Willy Wonka does candy! :) I think they've also been able to hire more people (not saying more cooks are necessarily better, but it helps if you're going to stretch yourself thin).
I was about to start a new thread for this, but figured throwing it in the walking dead thread would be OK. I am talking about zombies. I recently downloaded, State of decay from Xbox360 dashboard and I must say, this game is awesome. For $19.99, it's even better. If you guys liked the walking dead, but were kind of mad at how slow and non action it was, state of decay is for you. Check out the demo on xbox360 or look it up on youtube.
It's a huge open world game that lets you go anywhere you want, you'll also have to build a base to keep your survivors happy and safe. There is tons of exploration to find weapons and survivors. I have so much to say about it, but it's best if you guys just check it out.
State Of Decay is on my to-check list. Seems cool, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to get into it and then be unable to play/make any more games for a long time;)
But as for Walking Dead- anyone knows when episode 2 is out?
And also, WHY DID THEY MAKE A CHARACTER BASED ON PEWDIEPIE? (seriously, just look at that guy Luke!;) Are they trying to appeal to his teenage fans?)
I have played somewhere around 16 hours in two days...lol.. pretty sad actually. This game...State of decay, has a way of making you never want to put the controller down. I'm loving it at the moment, and not really a guy that plays open world games that never end. But since it was zombie related, I had to give it a go.
This game really is what walking dead should have been. I can almost guarantee that the makers of the walking dead game, are feeling one upped.
You will have to put many hours into it, the choice is yours. But coming from a walking dead fan to another, I can almost guarantee that you will have enjoyed yourself and got your moneys worth, even if you played the crap out of it for a week or two, and quit.
