I did these as sort of a personal project and thought I'd share the result with you.

Here's the newest image.  It's one of the meadow scenes where the unicorn may appear.

The first one is the Fisherman's House.

The second one, the one I previously posted in the Critics Lounge, is the Dwarve's House.

There's also a short animation of the Dwarve's House, which is a slightly older version, but is still pleasant:

Anyways, I thought they may (or may not) be enjoyed by others, so here there they are.

In case anyone's interested, I reduced these to 240 colours and 320x200 resolution, for nostalgic purposes ;)

Odd. For some reasons I found the downgraded versions more charming. For example, the clouds in the low-res. 8-bit version look more artistic.

Either way, both versions look great. :D

Not that this is the critic's lounge or anything, but to be more awesomed, the lo-res BGs should have their contrast upped (areas like the spokes between the wheels really show up when it is shrunk down), and some variation in the dithering between the tree and house would work wonders.

I'd do it myself, but I'm not on my usual computer currently. And this is all probably irrelevant to the actual original BGs :D.

You should try different options for size reduction (dithering etc.). You might get even better results.

The reduced versions are so good...
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!
