Would you mind to define "blow beyond all belief"? I asked its meaning to 3 different persons and they each told me a different answer.

Suck terribly. Be really bad.

Not "blow your mind" as some people seem to think.

I can think of one other occasion where 'blow' means 'suck'.  It involves some kind of job.

I somehow feel that you are confusing doing a good/great job to what you do (no matter how big), and starting out big/huge.

someone doesn't have to start alone to a 70 BG game to realise that it's difficult (not impossible though) to not make it.

Regarding time: Sure everyone's got time with free projects, and there is no release date, but have you ever considered that someone might get tired after 7 (for example) years on working on a game? It is a very realistic danger...

I didn't mean that starting big ensures that the game will be good. I meant that no matter how big peoples ambitions seem to be, they should be encouraged to go for it. I know that the advice to start small is well intentioned, but I feel this is discouraging people. You don't know if it's too difficult for them until they try it. Don't tell them where their limits are, let them find out for themselves.

I generally think that when learning something (which happens when you're a beginer) usually the simple "advice" is to start small. It happens everywhere, for everything. The only things that don't apply that, have to do with instinct. Fall on the water and... swim. Or such things.

Anyways, I'm not into discouraging anyone, but when someone appears and is looking for what is the best damn game for everyone, persumibly so he can make it (?? not sure really but as I said I assume), then somehow this seems... too big for 99.9% of the population, no matter who.

Honestly, anyone coming to me and saying "I plan on making a really really BIG game" would have earned my doubt, except commercial projects, where money help make it happen (along with contracts).

Again, not impossible, not trying to stop anyone, but simply the truth as I see it. :)

I don't think that is true for most people. Starting something small and succeeding is far more encouraging than starting something big and failing. Don't bite off more than you can chew.
